Re: electric fuel pumps

Mr Branch recommends the Mallory COMP110 which is self pressure regulated on most of his carburetor engines. The extreme high rpm or big inch strokers he recommends the Mallory COMP140 which uses a external regulator. Picking a high quality regular in an unregulated pump application is very importa...

Thanks for the info. I have a customer that has one of his 572BBC still in a crate and wants my shop to install soon. Took him a bit to get his engine and I wanted to talk with Mike about a FI system he would recommend. I know what system works for me but I would like Mike's input on his engine. Tha...

Re: Im embarrassed to admit it

There are many cooling system configurations that work and some work very well. In my years of working with both light duty and commercial vehicles everyday I have come across many strange issues with engine and trans temps. Crow built me up to be a genius however I am just a simple tech that likes ...

Different strokes. makes the whole thing fun reading what someone else is doing. Man, I like horse power. Especially the way big horsepower sounds. When you hear it, you just don't forget it. Yup, I agree Chris!!, :D

Re: LS or big Block...... Which do you choose????

If you want reliability for a good price you can't go wrong with a Mas 540BB. I got the one that runs on 92 octane. The motor dynoed out at 761.8hp and 724.6 torque. I have a 2.55 box and 4 blades 84" super wide. I can go anywhere I want with 8 people on board. My cruise rpms are fron 2400 to ...

Re: Problens with Mast LS 7

Assuming this fly by wire pedal is like most systems then they operate with redundant voltages. Meaning there would be 3 app sensors in one with two rising voltages and one falling simultaneously, if they do not cross equally then pedal will force idle condition. Extremely important to understand th...

Re: A little boat help please

I can testify that Yamaha builds a great motor, Crow can test a powerhead!!! He thinks he is still running a blow boat by the way he gets the boat on plane in 3" of water. The outboard is a mix between a mud motor, shell grinder, and a prop driven hydro blaster!! The Rev limiter does work!!!!! ...

Sounds like it will be fine Chicken. I had a technician put an engine in a Chevy pickup last year and dropped a nut down the intake. He found it when the engine started and crushed the piston against the head, piston then imploded and cracked the block. Cost me 5k!! Yuck. Robert

Re: Bad Batch of Spark Plugs?

Yes spark plugs go bad. You can also get new plugs that are made incorrectly. example electrodes off center. Here is a trick to" recondition plugs" Use an old neon sign transformer and fire the plug with it---high tension, through the plug to ground. Cleans the plug. Do not grab the plug ...

Re: 5.7 vortec misfire

do you have a fuel pressure gauge? if so hook up to port behind the throttle body on the right of dist. cap should be between 45 and 55 static Do this first!! Make sure pressure holds after shut off. How do you know it is 5 and 7 hole that is dead? Compression low but only takes 95 psi to fire plug...

Stick and string season around the corner!!

Almost here, went and topped off feeders this weekend and set up ground blinds in Bandera. We usually have 8-10 ground blinds set up but the deer are getting smart and patterning us. They hear the atv bust off and they then turn on their senses in hybrid alert mode!! Sooooooo this year only 3 ground...
