Re: How about nitrous?

you can use a single fogger system and set it up very easy without having to build a custom plate, just drill and tap. you should use a separate fuel pump and regulator with your system and set the pressure at 6.5 PSI with an accurate fuel guage free flowing back into your tank with a # 73 holley je...

Re: 0470 top end rebuilt. .....smokes hard when fired up

oil dripping from every cylinder or just one or two? what do the plugs look like? you can tell a lot about what is happening in the motor by looking at the plugs. if its all cylinders then check compression. Possible someone may have put std. pistons in over sized cylinders or something stupid like ...

Re: Porpoise

forget everything you just heard and make sure the bottom of the boat is straight. If it is not nothing else you do will fix the problem. you should not have to use a trim tab.

Re: Porpoise

Use the search area at the top right of the screen. There is a lot of good info on the subject. Start with the bottom of the boat before you do anything else. If you don't you could be wasting your time.

I'm no guru but I think the rule of thumb is 10 psi per 1000 rpm. Shouldn't matter how many cylinders.

Listen to the guy at the paint store. doing a second coat before the first sets up completely will provide the best bond.

Also Ike Rainey's boat is the first to run in the 4 second category with a 6 cylinder modified boat. Cecil Field built the engine and got her dialed In! congratulations to them!

Re: 0540 slight miss

I have had a problem with a cylinder running cold at rpm below 1200 and pick back up at higher rpm. I pulled my hair out trying to find the problem. finally finding a broken valve spring. The last thing I would have suspected. Took it to Lacy Everett and he found it in about 5 minutes.

72 " 3 blade would be more than enough prop for him! I promise you That SV 540 doesn't have near the power my race motor has and I can choke my motor down with a 68" 3 blade Excaliber. But if he wants to spend the money for the extra blade that is his choice.

Fill low or bad areas with resin and chop strand mat. Don't try to fill with steel flex. It has no structural strength and if too thick will likely crack or flake off.
