counter-rotator

Olf,

I would have loved to have seen it!

Are you sure it's a counter-rotator?
Look at the leading edges on the props.
If it's not a CR, I bet this radial engine boat wrote the book on torque roll.

counter-rotator

Sure would like to know what kind of ponies that "Bear" plane puts-out! Maybe I'd have a future with anaircraft engine if it were counter-rotator.
The Russian's build some crazy stuff, here's another one they built. I think this one is in Georgia now?

wiring the cage

highbid,

Welcome to S.A., That's a long time with no answer.

Do you mean putting the wire on the framework of the cage? DB uses some stainless steel straps that are pretty good. Most on here would baze or mig if it's metal.

Hope this helps.

hgm,

I always refer folks to the movie "The Aviator", when they ask about the counter-rotator props. Can you imagine the folks in Hollywood when he came crashing down in that plane!
I can't imagine having that much money though... :queen:

Yeah, about 10% and you're good to go.

hgm, Thanks for starting another "how long" poll. Forgot to look and see if the other thread's poll was active before bumping it back up to the top. Don't the polls only stay active based on the original person's timeline? 14 X 8 hull with another 2 feet of grass rake that continues to kee...

C Green,

Like everybody else above, don't want to jinx myself but... I have about 140 hours on my 454 turning 5100 at wide open throttle. She's been good so far.

How about oiling? What weight oil? Engine heater for your extreme cold up there? Whats your oil pressure running?

countryboy,

Prayers sent out to this young man's family, friends. Pretty close to our home too.

Such a young man with a full life ahead. Hope they catch the low-lifes and throw away the key.

To me gated community don't mean nothing. S & W with extra clips speaks for itself!

289 and counter-rotator

Bowhntr,

The Cleveland would be nice, (other than harder and more expensive to find parts for).

Here's my version http://www.worldcastings.com/press_rele ... _block.pdf
of a chebby spanker that I'd like to bolt up to a counter-rotator! :D

Ford Power, How's that beast of a big block running? Sure would like to see it!

gatorter, Welcome to Southern Airboat. You'll find that most carmotor boats are GM/corporate, (chebby). Making us Ford guys here, S.O.L. (you being about number 10 or 12 to speak of). Counter-rotators rock! But like Mood said they're expensive. Mine is powered by a 454 chebby. To my knowledge nobody...

BigDaddy, This is sad. Had my boat built for that place, (an airboat can be no longer than 14 foot). Beautiful place the Stairsteps unit is. Talking point.... This is the last 2,000 acres left in big Cypress that you can airboat on! Don't take it away from us cause of one bird nest! Wish I wasn't 4-...

First "X" rated version of Dirty Jobs I've ever seen! The crotch thing... The whole camera crew went over to the same side of the boat that two guys were already on. Over $100K lost in equipment he said. Good episode for sure! On the rudders was a Florida airboat company. Basketcase
