Re: Lightheaded new 5000 lumen headlight
I was doing some searching, and this came up... I'm in the market to buy some lights, and have a couple questions. For boat operation would you suggest running a headlight, or mounted led's? Does the 3800 or 5000 lumen headlight work as good as a handheld spotlight? I like to see objects well befor...

Anahuac Crab Trap Cleanup/Feb. 22 Airboats Needed
We got the request to help with the trap cleanup again this year. Wrench and Kwowens helped us last year and we had a huge airboat turnout a few years ago. I am hoping for a good turnout this year!! They normally provide some good gumbo and we have always have a good time. I will post more details t...

Re: anyone doing the crab trap cleanup
Myronja,
I will post up the info tonight or tomorrow. I got an email from the foundation that we help out the other day asking if we would be willing to help again. I told them we would and would try to round up some airboat support like the last few years.
Stay tuned,
sh

Re: 6.2 LSA
He should find a good tuner and the power plant would be great. Once he starts spending the money for big block parts to top the power that the LSA could make he will be losing money not to mention adding more weight. I tend to agree with the above statement. Seems like with a little bit of change ...

New Left Margin Ads--Classified Section
What is the deal with the ads that pop up on the left margin now when you are in the classified section? It covers the thumbnail photos of the top 3-4 listed ads and there is no way to delete it. Irritating!

Re: If I were to have 1050hp
Dirtman, I am guessing I have around 650-700 hp, but I've never had it on a dyno to prove it. I am spinning them to about 5k rpms set just a little more than the 2 mark. You are correct on the NGRs being only one length if keeping the winglet with the 5-blade hub. I have R blades, which are trimmed ...

Re: Operation Quiet: 3.26 Counter Rotator/Dual NGR
Quick update: I've had a few delays due to problems with the engine we put in. Upon startup, we noticed oil spraying out of the back end. That forced us to yank the gear box back off, remove the flywheel, drop the pan, oil pump and rear main bearing. We found that the builders forgot to install the ...

Re: If I were to have 1050hp
If I remember right, Felber was talking about 5 S-blades at 86". The S-blade is a different animal and will probably not be apples to apples comparison with the blade you want to run. I am running 5 R-blades 82.5" with a 2.3 belt. I would like to try the 2.55 belt and throw more pitch in them, but m...

Re: Operation Quiet: 3.26 Counter Rotator/Dual NGR
I had a conversation with Jay when he was at Panther a few years back, and he said they ran a few with big blades. Tony may be right in that the hollow blades can accentuate the gear noise somewhat. We will see how it does.Bruce wrote:i thought the cr gearbox could only run the lightweight warp style blades

540,
I talked with a Amsoil Tech one day about what to run in my 572's and after telling him the particulars like avg sustained rpm, load on the engine, etc, he recommended Dominator 15w-50.
Do you have any experience with the Dominator line...is it overkill?

Re: Operation Quiet: 3.26 Counter Rotator/Dual NGR
The engine went in this weekend coupled to the 3.26 CR gearbox, so soon I will be on to the rest of the puzzle. The prop will be the largest diameter available and I am still considering what to do with the exhaust. The offset inlet/outlet mufflers tend to be quieter than the straight through design...

Operation Quiet: 3.26 Counter Rotator/Dual NGR
I thought I would log my recent project and solicit any good suggestions that anyone may like to add. I want to create the quietest airboat I've ever heard, so here are my plans and some of what I've completed already. Powerplant: The original plans for the powerplant was to go LS to save some weigh...

Yep...and commercial insurance tripled after the airboat claims associated with BP Cleanup. Even if you had no prior claims at all, you still get hit with paying the major increase.
