You know I am a A/C neophyte. What is the difference between mineral and non-mineral?

Is this not the correct oil for my 520?

Re: vibration ?

can I just use a angle finder or do I need angle finder and track it with a stick on the transom. Start with the angle finder and then use the stick off the transom to get them perfect. Like others have mentioned sometimes you have to move them by just a smidge til you find perfect. I have had that...

I don't think it will live long or perform very well if it does. High compression coupled with max load at low RPM's is a recipe for disaster.

Re: vibration ?

I got the boat from skinny99 on here the engine was built for a airboat. I am pretty sure it was done right I have no complaints except the vibration at low to mid range rpms on the water not on the trailer. maybe I will just call him and ask if it has always done that. I know I would like to have ...

Re: 3 blade "R" sweet spot

What areas do you want to improve the performance of your boat? That is the real question. Somehow I will bet you don't care how fast your boat will go on top end but care a lot more about good cruise, smoothness and quietness. Sounds like a perfect 4 blade NGR to me. I bet you could upgrade pretty c...

I don't think you have 550 horsepower. But a 2.68 will let what you have run dry ground better with what you have.

Re: First time in the drivers seat.

Everything you describes sounds normal. To help slow down when docking, set the idle as low as it will stay running. Also you can start and stop the engine as needed to help you come in slower. You can also learn to use the wind and/or current to help you ease into the docks. Remember to use some ex...

Re: Mild 350 Prop Pitch

I had this cam. http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/cam-specs/Details.aspx?csid=79&sb=2 It would work real good. Especially with your split rocker arm ratio. You really shouldn't have them split with the cam you have. It already has a larger exhaust lobe that "most" SBC seem to like. Also if you have...

Re: Mild 350 Prop Pitch

With that little itty bitty cam you are prob well past your torque peak. Try putting just a little more pitch in it an setting it about 4600
RPM's on the trailer. I had a similar setup but with a bigger cam. 4800 seemed to be the best compromise between cruise and dry running ability.

Helms I got an old beater boat. Not fast or especially nice. But I own it cheap and it runs good enough to follow all y'all's big money boats around. The use of a checkbook is not a sign of intelligence or experience.
