Re: some one got to have one

I am not an aircraft expert but this is a small carb with a holley 2 BBL pattern which is common. I would think you would be a tune that for a little motor. http://www.summitracing.com/search/Section/Carburetors-Accessories/Brand/Holley/Price-Range/100-250/Part-Type/Carburetors/CFM/350/?autoview=SKU...

Re: airboat hp

The decision now is how much do you wanna spend? For under $500 you can buy an intake manifold,cam/lifters,valve springs and a double roller timing chain set. Keep the cam in the .450-.465 lift range and you can get away with no machine work in the heads. You don't need a cam much bigger than that. ...

Re: RPM on 350 SBC

Which Whirlwind prop do you have? Most blades have a sweet spot where they push the best. I have basically the same combination except for I have Sensinich R-Series blades. I had been turning my setup 5200-5300 RPM's. I just adjusted it to about 4900 RPM's and my boat loved it. I ran all weekend hea...

Re: airboat hp

What prop do you have? Are you planning on keeping the 1.77 Box? Is the rest of the engine bone stock? Pistons, rod bolts and valve springs?

You will need to get a Performer style intake for sure.

Call Allen at S&S Carb. He built me a really nice one. It works good. He can fix that one most likely.

Re: New Hammant boat build BBC or S/C LS

I like a BIG BBC, like a 604 CI with high quality components. Make 750+hp and turn a huge prop!
Turn it like 5600-5700 with a 2.55 Gearbox. That thing would fly!

Re: prop

If I keep the rpm down around 4k it's ok to run dd with no problem? No. For two reasons, First of all the prop is unsafe much above 3200 RPM's Second if the motor is actually properly built to turn and make power up to 8000+ Rpm's it won't make any power at 3000ish RPM's. So it would actually be sl...

Re: prop

Not being mean but your combo isn't going to work. Props have a an effective operating range of 3000-3200 max. They don't make one to turn that hard in Airboat applications. Do a search of DD on the forum and read. Your would be better off going with a basic 400 SBC if you are gonna stay DD or get a...

Re: pic of cage and stand mounted... my first!!

Country is right. That seating area looks like it is gonna carry more than just you. If you are carriying people and the stuff that goes with them then you WILL have something head towards your prop. It's not if but when. The work looks good shouldn't be that hard for you to add an extension to the ...

I am not an Aircraft expert, however what altitude are you? You may be lean and that is causing excess cylinder head temperatures.

Re: Feelin alot better

Locked in the open position is generally the best way because of rotor phasing. However it will run either way. I have always locked them wide open on my roundy round cars. I always take the module out before I weld on the distributor also. Just not taking any chances. IMO
