Not sure if he is still out there or not but Rick Lyman was on lake O for many years. Really was a stand up guy. Any yes Gerald we DO need them.

Battery

Can I safely install a battery below the deck on my Don Davis full deck? I know at the very least it will have to be either a sealed or gelcell.
What are everyones thoughts?

Thanks,

Marty

Re: Looking for private guide airboaters Orlando Lake K ?

Give Kevin Chandley a call over at Grape Hammock on the south Side of lake Kissimee. I think the boat is a little bigger than waht you are looking for but he really is a great guy to go on a ride with.

Hog Hunts

Hey all, I am trying to find an idiot proof spot to kill my 8 year old his first hog. We have 1000 acres in PSL but the hogs are few and far between and we have tried but they are all big and have been uncooperative and wary as hell. Anybody got and ideas near Okeechobee where big packs come in? Hop...

Deer

I haven't seen but a few deer pics on here this year so I thought I would post a little one I killed with my daughter in Port St. Lucie Thanksgiving after dinner.

Not airboat but...

Did anybody lose a hog dog in Corbett last weekend? A friend of mine found it and is looking for the owner. Send me an email, tell me what it is and come get it.

Check out Slick Tricks. They are tough, razor sharp out of the package and the entry hole looks like they were shot with a slug.

Benefit Car Show for Cody Meiers

I was not sure where to put this and it doesn't have anything to do with airboats (my bud that is currently helping me rebuild my boat is putting the show on) but I thought it is worth mentioning. The show is next Sunday the 25th at Tradewinds Park. He is the son of one of BSO's finest and could use...

Re: Kids on Boats

Just to clarify it my son was 7 when I was written the ticket. The FWC officer told me that anyone under 13 (which I know is USCG regs) must wear a pfd when the boat is underway which I know includes drifting. As I said when we are under power whether it is in the Glades, a lake or offshore we do us...

Re: Kids on Boats

But be careful with the under 6 rule. I was ticketed last year by FWC for my 7 year old not having a pfd on drifting speck fishing. Coast Guard regs say under 13 and it appears that some FWC officers don't know the difference between theirs and USCG. If I know before i paid the ticket I would have t...

Re: Lake Kissimmee camping

Try Grape Hammock across the street from River Ranch on the south end of the lake, they have a tent camping area plus RV parking. It is a nice quiet little place.

Hey Rich, there is already another thread about this. I saw it a few days ago on craigslist and called Glen from Westside to see if he knew anything. He has not heard anything from down in his area.

Re: Newbie with questions

That looks like the one that has been on Craigslist for quite a while for 6800 or trade for a truck, camper 5th wheel or what ever else you have. I would have someone who knows something about airboats look at it first. The price he is asking isn't bad so why has it been on there for sooooo long.

Now that we have gotten through this new early season what is everyones thoughts that are down in the south zone? Until two weeks before season we saw tons of deer then they vanished. Since the opening I have only seen a scrawny six and a few does.

Re: Life Jackets

Not to beat a dead horse and yes I understand that it would be best if everyone in the vessel wore a life jacket but once again I spoke with someone in Tallahassee and they verified it is only under 6 in state waters are required to wear a life jacket.

I agree but it is pretty bad when they don't know their own written rules or update their own website. That is a direct copy and paste from myfwc.com.

Re: Life Jackets

From FWC website: Equipment and Lighting Requirements The owner and/or operator of a vessel is responsible to carry, store, maintain and use the safety equipment required by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG). All vessels are required to have onboard a wearable USCG-approved personal flotation device (PFD)...

Re: Life Jackets

I spoke with a woman at FWC in Tallahassee and she told me anyone under 13 must wear one while the vessel is underway. Their info page says anyone under 6. What gives?

Life Jackets

I'm new to here but not to airboats. Now that my kids are getting a little older I bought my old Don Davis boat back. I need some life jackets for the kids (5 and 7). Horse collars don't work as I can not keep them on them. They can't stand them and I am looking for an alternative. Any suggestions t...
