Re: More push?

Any input on what can I should get? I looked at MTS however I did not call Marty yet but thought their cams were for more of a DD set up? Marty has cams for whatever you need. In fact the dd cams are being recomended even in some car builds. They are great cams. But more importantly he can have one...

Re: More push?

If you're gonna do all that then defiantly change the cam and take advantage of the airflow.

Re: Excalibur Pitch

The advice you should follow is that of the manufacturer. Ask Patti what she recommends. For safety and warranty purposes. Now that I said that. I haven't tried the staggered pitch. I'm anal about all the blades being perfect. I have run this prop at every rpm from 2400-3600 and I will have to say i...

Re: More push?

If your engine is stock or basically stock. You need to stay with the ratio you have. Over 5000rpm is no prob with the right mods. But you don't need to turn them that high. Even with the correct mods the torque curve is so low and flat that 44-4600 is plenty. Unless you just wana spend a bunch o mo...

You need to turn that whisper tip 2800-3000. Then you may see a difference.

Re: 12ft hull vs 13-6

Less surface area = more pressure psi
It's all about the set up. I like a 13 better than a 12 but it depends on your entire set up/engine combo. I believe you will like the 13 6 a lot more for what you're gonna do.

Re: Cadillac crank ground for thrust bushing in south Florid

Reggie at austral explained this modification as easy for a "real" machine shop with a "real" machinist. However he would not recommend anyone. But was wiling to explain to a competent machinist how to do it. I had one done years ago however that gentleman is retired and unreachable (hopefully enjoy...

Re: Best prop to use

Most caddy cranks break at the rear of the last rod journal. It has lil or nothing to do with which prop you run. I have only had two cranks break out of several engines I've ran. Only one of those was due to the prop. A blade came out of the hub due to poor quality in the lamination/bonding process...

It's hard to beat a good sv 0540 for power and reliability. I think you would be pleased with one on the boat you have.

The aluminum intake works well with a cam upgrade. If you're not gonna do any other work than no the alum intake is not worth it.
