Re: Collapsible cage? Anyone ever see one...

It's possible that going from a 205/75R14 to a 185/75R14 would translate to a 2.5 to 3in drop at the rear of the trailer depending on how much higher the tongue is then the axle but I don't think that is what 406 JAMIE was talking about because he said, "Its all in the sidewall of the tire put them ...

Re: Opening weekend duck pics

I saw hundreds flying around 3A north but unfortunately I was way under camouflaged and my airboat stood out like a light house amongst the short sawgrass. Cranked off a couple shots in desperation at some ringnecks that passed so high they were wearing their oxygen masks and finally dropped the one...

Re: Need feedback on the 4 blade excaliber bowtie on DD's??

A 78x42 Paddle? That's a bunch of lumber for a 472, it must be beyond healthy. I agree. The 375-400 lb ft torque you said your motor is making at 3000rpm translates to 214-228 hp and if you're swinging a 78x42 paddle prop it sounds like you got more then that. Good luck with the Excaliber, WhirlWin...

Re: Another 540 Question

I notice that Lycoming shows the various engines hp rating at 2700rpm or less. I wonder what the hp ratings would be if spun beyond 2700 rpm. A IO-540 that makes 300hp at 2700 rpm would be making 584lb ft torque. I know Torque curves are not dead flat but pretending for a minute that they are if tha...

Re: # Blades vs Diameter

I have always wanted to see and been waiting for years to see, a purely base line test. For instance, use a stock straight valve 540 and test each manufacturers recommended prop for that engine. One prop at a time on the same day, strictly thrust numbers. Not concerned with snap or noise. Example: ...

Re: Bored out 454 direct drive vs caddy direct drive

I think a comparison between a caddy 500 and a zz502/502 would be very interesting? 502 weighs in at 504lbs and spits out 530 ft pounds at 2750.... Just thinking it would be an interesting comparison in a direct drive application?? Not trying to start a war here either... I think the 500 caddy vs z...

As much as putting an Ecotec on you're boat sounded like a really cool idea I don't think you'll be a bit disappointed with one of Schmidt's 200's.

Re: My Sled

If you were driving in a straight line and had a direct tailwind one way and a direct headwind the other for an equal amount of miles then you might be able to leave the wind out of the mpg equation but with winding trails, shifting wind direction, running harder, unknown how many engine hours one r...

Re: Best prop?

You didn't mention what length Excaliber but since a regular 200hp IO-360 is running 8.7:1 compression and you're running 12:1 compression I'm assuming this boat is more of a go fast race gas boat then a quiet fuel sipper so I'd think the appropriate length Excaliber would perform better then a 2 bl...
