Re: What in the world happen???

If I have a great day out on the water there's roughly a 100% chance that something is going to break next time out.

I tell people that if I put a one-hundred dollar bill in a jar every time I cranked my boat up it wouldn't pay for the repairs. I don't think it's much (if any) of an exageration.

Giving Rides

Another thread got me thinking but I didn't want to be a hijacker so I started this one instead. One day seven or eight years ago my wife and I were at Ramshackle's in Homosassa when a couple there in their late 40s or early 50s asked us if we would give them an airboat ride. Well I thought, "Why no...

Re: gear box question?

Not enough info to answer anything except for this:

You don't want to turn your prop faster than 2,900 - 3,000 rpms. Multiply those numbers by 2.09 and that will tell you maximum, regardless of other factors, that you will want to turn your motor.

Straight Up Question for Thunder and Felber

You guys seem to be the Gurus Y'all have tested countless combos. No question in my mind you know that of which you speak. The question is, application vs application, what's the difference between the best and worst prop? For instance, assuming the same hull, motor, redrive. With the style prop tha...

Re: HOW MANY GALLONS

The problem with varying levels in a horizontal cylinder tank is that the dimentions are contantly changing as fill level increases or decreases. I will go find my old brain book we use on the Satellite Sites for the big Generator tanks we used to use. 2-10,000 gallon tanks. We had to know how much...

Of course it won't hurt to call the guy back and try to work something out, but your title really does say it all. I sold a boat with a 220 gpu on it last year and quite honestly told the guy that bought it there were no problems at all as far as I knew, but told him to be aware that it might blow u...

Re: torque ?

Thunder, that was the answer I was curious about. I did not realize the belt drive would affect a bigger, heavier boat worse than a small boat....I was thinking the smaller lighter boats would be more prone to this. Thanks A lighter boat will accelerate faster converting the torque roll to forward ...

Re: Painterchic bought an Engine... now I need help!!!!

I don't know if anyone has told you (or maybe you knew this already) but any of those little part that aren't going to refurbed or replaced need to go back in the same exact position and orientation as they came out, so you need to keep careful track of what was where and which way it was turned.

As I understand it the vote was 7-2 on whether or not the 2nd applied to individuals vs a militia. The 5-4 split came about as a result of Scalia's writing going as far as it did.

Re: Turning to the experts

I think that hull is too small for a car motor. If you get a 220 GPU you will get a lot more years out of that than you would building up a direct drive car motor. In my opinion they are easier to work on, costs less in the long run and are trouble free with just a couple of fixes. Read some of the...

Re: flex pipe muffler ????????????????

Maybe the trick would be to just bend a contoured layer of a really strong and sound absorbent foam (or similar) around the radius (inside or outside but probably better outside the wire) of the back of the cage. It would have to be shaped and not bulky enough to cause excessive drag.

Re: what kind of track are they having on july 4th

Is there a place to put your truck and trailor close to the raceboat because our boat is cut down real low and will sink if a big GTO boat causes a wake if we are floating. I just want to know what the deal is. Is going to be worth the trip. I'm guessing water is going to be too deep. :D :D :D :D :D

they make 3" flex pipe and mufflers. why would you want to reduce it to 2 1/2??? First, I've been drinking so disregard everything that follows. Second, it doesn't matter if your mufflers cost you 15 hp. Run good, quiet mufflers. Let us all enjoy the lifestyle just a little bit longer. Third, and t...

Re: 87 or 93 in a GPU 220????

Because you don't have the ductwork and shrouding the gpu was designed to use and the fact that you probably work your engine harder in an airboat than in a gpu configuration, your engine probably runs a lot hotter in your boat than in a gpu. So I think you might have problems with detonation runnin...
