I have my private license but don't fly hardly at all anymore. It is fun but the cost isn't. Also, the way I fly, I don't get the sensation of speed and motion like you do in an airboat. I've played with the idea of helo training, but there's that money thing again. Not that I couldn't afford it, bu...

Duece, in a perfect world, a 75 hp shot should give you 125 rpm on your prop and 335 on your motor.

In this world I'm afraid to say, but that should be close.

In Citrus County I'd say it's still a lot more fiberglass because of cost, but I do think it's swinging more towards aluminum. For me it's just personal preference. I like the more angular looks you see with aluminum vs the rounded look of fiberglass - and plus I've heard of but never seen a deckove...

I don't believe in magic, but I think propellers are about as close as you can get. You'd think by now with computers and everything, the optimal propeller design would be figured out. I think there are just so many variables to consider that there is no one "best design". The fastest prop...

I don't know how much of the tip you're talking about but if it has surface area (and an airfoil shape), angle of attack, and motion; it's going to produce thrust. I know at the ends of an airfoil a lot of the air is "spilled" off the end and therefore it is not as efficient as further inw...

One thing I brought up about a year ago and a few people were quick to diagree is peak static thrust numbers mean NOTHING! I will take a superwide three blade that will make 50 pounds less peak thrust then a standard wide blade. Because the superwide will make much more thrust at lower RPM's and th...

A propeller is an airfoil, the tips are traveling at greater rate of speed and angle of attack than the blade area closer to the hub. The blade surface closer to the hub has a greater airfoil profile and that is where the majority of thrust is created. From your link: "The angle of attack of t...

Yes, in my opinion the 3 blade "K" with 2.68 would be better than the 2 blade "S." Your swinging 6" more blade surface and the balance of the blade path would be much smoother. Just to add fuel to the fire, it's not just the surface area of the blade that counts, it's also ...

Before things get out of hand I need to tell you Thunder told me awhile back in a pm that he thought my prop would be a little too much and that he thought I'd be happier with the narrower blades. By that time I already had my current prop on order. Talking with Mike over a Floral City, he first wan...

2.68 and 78" Superwide - Update

Just got my boat today. Floral City deckover aluminum 14'8"x8' with 2' rake. ZZ383 crate motor with 2.68 stinger softdrive and 78" Sensenich Superwide. Now the issues. There is a pretty severe vibration at dead idle that goes away the instant I come off of dead idle. If there's not an easy...

I read something I was suprised about is that there is a 1000lbs more weight capacity from 16 to 18. Its amazing that 2 ft increases the load capacity that much. Doing some real rough math, suppose you add a two foot section that is 30 inches high and eight feet wide. That is 40 cubic ft. A cubic f...

You know, kayakers and canoers wouldn't even have to have the flag mounted. Just have it so they can get to it and wave it if they hear a boat coming.

Seven or eight years ago I sent three of my six blades back to Ivo and they took two inches off of them. So I had three 78s in front and three 76s in back. Before I had them cut down the boat performed pretty well. Afterwards, it was a dog.

Actually there were two 400s. The 400 small block, which is what I'm sure you're looking at, and a 402 big-block. The big-block came in pickups in the late 60s and early 70s. One problem with the 400 small block was to get the bores big enough they had to eliminate the cooling passages between the c...

Which said another way is 171 hp.

You can have torque without power but you can't have power without torque. Torque is force. Work is force over a distance. Power is work per unit time.

The Caddy develops it's peak torque at less RPM's. I hear all the time I don't care about horsepower all I care about is torque. Well the are mathematically one and the same you derive horsepower by measuring tourque. Exactly right Thunder. I'll bet not one in a hundred folks that think they unders...

I heard a three-blade powershift sound like that once and it turned out one blade had more pitch than the other two. I have heard that the marks on some Sensenich blades aren't all the same so maybe that could be the case with you too?

Dammitall I just about wish I'd never come across this web site and I know the guy building my boat wishes I hadn't.

Just changed my order again. I've gone from 2.09 to 2.68 to 2.09 to 2.38 and now back to 2.68 again.

I guess I'm going to go Sensenich Superwide three-blade too.
