Sorry but that's bs. 300 hp at the prop hub is 300 hp - regardless of what's in front of the prop hub.

Re: Finally Bought a boat

Is it deckover? No matter, look out for your backwash and be careful not to dip a corner making a sharp turn at low speed.

Unless you saw it, you wouldn't believe how fast an airboat can sink.

Damn Torque!

After reading this board and a couple others over the years I've reached the conclusion that (that word) and it's relationship to power is the most misunderstood concept on earth. The pity is it's not that complex, in fact it's really simple. So if the problem isn't with concept, it must be with the...

They have one in a 1995 mustang gt and they drove it from Texas to Oklahoma to race it. The car made 35mpg on the way to the track and laid down a 9.9 1/4 @ 143mph. here is a clip for the car owner A car built from scratch with the craziest power train combination ever installed in a race style veh...

Re: Starter bolts snapping need help

I went through this on a crate motor 383. Tried the knurled, non-knurled, shorter, grade 8, etc. Switched to the mini-starter and haven't broken one since.

No idea why.

Re: Relocating Painterchic

If you get a trailer, unless it has surge brakes, you will have to have a brake controller installed on your truck for them to work. Not a big deal, just something to think about.

Let me tell you about the luxury of getting old and not giving a crap anymore.

I don't own any, but if I tried a pair on and they felt good, I'd be wearing them.

Can you just get on your boat and go without having to fix something or having something go wrong? Since laying my boat on it's side last Christmas and having to be rescued (thanks again Wayne and Brad) I've run a dozen times or so without having to touch anything. While realizing I just jinxed myse...

Sticky mud is the worst.

While anything is possible, you might be better off with a hovercraft - or maybe a helicopter.

Re: How Can 300 hp Outperform 425?

I guess I didn't do a very good job of making my original point.

I was trying to say that even though GM says my motor makes 425 hp, in all likelihood I'm probably only getting around 300 to the prop - a little less than a healthy O-520.
