Re: Lost Interest In Boat

I think I remember from the pics on your other thread seeing the poly was attached with bolts, is that right? If so I'd say that's the biggest thing that's going to hurt value. Every aircraft riveted hull guy I know attaches poly with rivets; very rarely do people use bolts on one of these hulls. Y...

Re: 556hp LSA vs. 600hp 418 Water Thunder

Good job guys!! And that's the nice numbers you should be able to enjoy- For a nice longtime - and hopefully ill be able to 'play' with you soon... Lord knows I've been saving pennies and buying parts for quite a while now. But ANYWAY the internals are not the weak link of the LSA engine....it's th...

Re: 556hp LSA vs. 600hp 418 Water Thunder

The LSA does come factory with a forged crank. But same shitty pistons as in the rest. Those little huffers on the LSA really aren't the greatest for a stroker motor. What makes them shitty? Because they are not forged?...LMAO I am putting out almost 800hp with the same "shitty pistons" in my blown...

Sniper25 I've owned both and in my opinion most carboats feel like dump trucks when you go from Ac. A small block would surely be a better choice for you on a 14' boat. I just wanted to offer you to ride and drive mine. The only way my motor would work good on a 14' boat would be the all aluminum o...

Couldnt make it run with a bb and cant make it run with a lsa lol geez we have the same size boat 15x8 db with anodized riggin like you have with a 496 pcm motor 2.3 ratio beltdrive with a old school 3 blade master blaster and it runs the hill with 7 peo...

Re: Small block or Big block?

We had a boat that was injecteted it was a Pm 496 and what a pain in the butt that thing was. This is the reason I said I would stay carb from now on. Then I went with the throttle injection and it was even worse. First the tps went and then the ecu went. I've never had a carb leave me stuck in the...

Re: Small block or Big block?

I agree with him because on a tour boat it's all about reliability. This is the reason I stayed carb because I'm old school and can work on it myself. I talked to you a little while back about a hull for my new tour boat I want to build. I build and work on all my own stuff that way I save myself a...

Re: Who runs the blue and silver ECOTEC on lake George?

For as much as I ride its not very often my boat is broke down. Knock on wood with every failure I've had she has always made it back to the ramp on her own. 1600 hours on a factory ls3 only had to change a few service parts (2 alternators,1 starter and 1 aeromotive fuel pump at 1300 hours) and it ...

Re: Who runs the blue and silver ECOTEC on lake George?

As to the durability of the ecotec engines they are TUFF! I have run mine 6 to 8 miles on the hammer @ 5400 rpms with a loaded boat. I have blown the silicone boots apart, blew the clamps off, even ran it Very hot and blew the head gasket. I fix it and it keeps going.Been running it with the tune o...

Re: Who runs the blue and silver ECOTEC on lake George?

dont get me wrong anything can fail but i know for a fact the straight crate gm motors are excellent and will run longer than most will ever own an airboat without any trouble and they make a real 430 horse not somebodies hokey bench dyno or thrust tester and ill agree the eco is a cool little motor...

Re: Who runs the blue and silver ECOTEC on lake George?

Yes. Loudmouse will agree. Yea you can run the **** out of these and "blow" them up and it'll cost any range from 1200$ for a used or 3000$ for crate. Try replacing a water thunder. To say that a ls won't blow is just a ignorant statement, bc if have personally pulled 2 back to the ramp!!!!!! :dontk...

If you set one of these up and wind up blowing it up a replacement would be cheap at that point right? Yes. Loudmouse will agree. I have a E185 case with 520 guts! When its hot n idleing, my oil pressure drops to 5-10 psi. Been running like that for years. I've been reading threads about putting dowels in ports to raise the pressure. Can anyone email or text me some pictures to show me what n where this dowel is supposed to g...

Re: Prop and box combo? Sugestions?

I am building a DB 14x8 single driver, double rear with front removable. All lightweight steel rigging with polymer and grass rack. Motor is a carb 5.3L LS4 said to have around 425hp +/-. I am more than likely going to go with an anodized Ballistic gearbox. Option #1 3 blade R 80" with 2.7 box Opti...

Re: 556hp LSA vs. 600hp 418 Water Thunder

The 418 combo is a hell of a combo I'm a poor salesman and should talk people into bigger more expensive motors but I don't think its worth it and the customer gains nothing but a lighter wallet. We have a ton of 418s with well over a thousand hours, 2 thousand even two in the glades with over 3 th...

Yes, and my build is taking forever (technically started in November of last year) because I'm building it in Central FL and Live/Work in N FL. Re: Junkyard 6.0 longevity

Theyre about 500 bucks a piece you could even buy two but anyway id put the factory gm ls2 cam and springs in it if you wanted to do that truthfully stock cam would probably be just fine i believe theyre rated at 330 horse which is good enough power to push what you want just dont overbuild the boat...
