Re: R Blade Thrust testing Data

Thank you Dave for all your testing. Obviously you have done everything you can to make your tests fair because you really want to know what performs the best. Obviously the R prop is a clear winner. If the airboat community had more people like you we would have a lot more reliable info on which to...

Re: LIGHTER OR NOT

Thanks jake. kinda what I was thinking. one reason that I was looking in this direction is that I ride the gulf about 50 percent of the time and my 13 foot alumitech hull really gets beat up if there is ANY wind. As I get older I am less interested in going fast and more interested in going smooth a...

Re: LIGHTER OR NOT

The argument over the years in favor of aircraft has always been weight and reliability. airboats with car motors have gotten a rep for motors that dont hold up under the rough conditions of running dry ground. Have these new crate motors been holding up? I have been running o540 motors for about 20...

LIGHTER OR NOT

Recently I was told that the new 6.2 liter all aluminum crate motors are actually lighter than either the 0540 or 0520 aircraft motors. Is this true? I realize that you still have a reduction unit and radiator and the water needed for cooling, but you are only talking 80 to 100 pounds more for a mot...

Re: Thinking about Jumping Ship,,, Traitor???

I have owned every configuration of boat and motor. caddy, big block chevy, small block, 0540 aircraft. I am running a 520 on a 13 foot diamondback currently. If i run all day at the lake I dont burn more than 20 gallons. My big block 502/502 would burn 40 gallons for the same amount of riding so do...
