Re: Alachua county Airboat ordinance

Outstanding job Smokster! I left Citrus County Airboat Alliance because they would rather vote to donate money to help a member’s granddaughter start a modeling career, rather than use the club funds to fight things like this. This is exactly why we have the clubs not for popularity or a status. May...

Re: Got a SS welding question...

The 100% Argon will not weld good. If it was me and those two were my choices I’d use the 75/25, it will rust but not much and not like carbon steel but the CO2 introduces impurities should be no problems as it’s not a structural piece from what I gather. With CO2 run your machine 3-5% higher

Re: B&S Trailer in Reddick Fl.

They built me a tandem axle for my 16x8. Excellent quality. Only complaint I have is I’ve split the board on my front stop three times now. So I’m thinking of getting a 1” rubber pad to bolt there.

Re: RPM's

Per the owners manual that’s the preferred WOT maximum RPM. The optimal RPM range at WOT is 4800- 5600, 5200 being preferred by PCM/Levitator. Without a prop it’s max rpm is governed @6000.

Re: How much power to use superwide blades?

Nebraska- Sensenich states 2300 max rpm for the S optimum rpm is 1800-2100 for best over all performance. 2300 with your 2.5 box puts engine rpm at 5750.

Re: How much power to use superwide blades?

I run a PCM 6.0L, published Hp is 375, ch3 2:1 spinning a 80” 3 blade sensenich K series. Blades 12” wide and ain’t got much pitch them runs well but struggles sometimes. Not seeing how you would twist it with your set up with any pitch at all especially within the blades preferred rpm range.

Re: Stock 6.0ls

Stock, is a fool’s errand. The LS platform isn’t able to sustain the thrust pressure from prop force. You are going to destroy your 6.0L especially if this is a engine you are planning to run later with a gear box. Dave (Waterthunder) had a DD LS some years back he had to develop a proprietary thrus...

Your asking a lot that boats huge and honestly I wouldn’t rev that LSA any higher than than you have too. Wet sand sucks you down and can be difficult to break lose. If it’s new call Faron at air ranger and he’ll give you a no bs answer

Call water thunder, that’s a big boat. Dave has developed an LS engine package that’s purpose built for tour boats. I know the old formula and suggested bbc vs LS On a large boat, however how many tour boats are under 15’ ??? doubt enough to build a purpose driven platform.

Re: Laying wire questions

It’s not difficult to see the issue with it. You want to run one go for it just stay the hell away from others. Get a 1/8” wire wrapped around that prop from striking an object or a weld breaking from cyclic fatigue and see that happens. I can promise you it will be much worst than if hit cage just ...

Re: Paint pain paint???!!

This is the zinc epoxy primer and activator, it’s quite expensive as it was close to $75 per gal and 15 for the little bottle of activator. I originally planed on painting the entire boat old school BDU like sniper’s old camo boat but couldn’t get the colors at the time. I Also planed on using Rapto...

Re: Paint pain paint???!!

That’s enough paint to do the rigging and then some, but 1/2 gallon each is a bit on the skinny side and not much less on price. The primer actually goes further than the urethane. Like I said, if you want to save money, get the epoxy primer and then hit HD or Wally World for 2 Quarts of Rust Oleum...

Re: Are AGM batteries suitable for airboats? If so, which ones?

Personally I never run my boat on All unless I have used both batteries. I alternate between 1-2 between shut downs as to always have a fully charged cranking battery to get me home or to jump another’s boat/truck. Or I run on one battery one day and switch to 2 the next.

Garmin states the 742xs has a IPX 7 rating that does not mean waterproof. It’s water resistant to 3’ for up to 30 minutes. 12’ of water is quite a difference in pressure.
