Re: 0360 180 hp fuel usage

I would think you would improve fuel efficiency if you were to add pitch, not take more out... but you would lose top end speed by doing so... for frogging more pitch might help you keep your foot out of the prop more... Can you lean out your carb some? sounds like over rich if black smoke is visibl...

Re: 0360 180 hp fuel usage

i have that motor in an airplane, at 75% it burns about 10 gph and at 55% it burns 7 gph. I also have an airboat that I bowfish out of with a different motor.... IF I am running on plane I get way way way better fuel mileage than if I am running fast idle and more power pushing water not on plane......

Shane with Dyna Marine thought that my wiring should be replaced, I told him that I carried a fire extinguisher and knew how to trace wires that came loose but he wanted to redo them any way.... Re: BBC valve cover baffles

On my valve covers I welded a short 1.5" nipple and put a clear flex 1.5 " line on each side, routed up to the top of the cage and back to about 1" from my prop.... in the nipple I put steel wool. When running the prop creates a vacuum, oil does go up in the line but drains back down when the engine...

It is Louisiana, as long as you have a gun with you everything should be ok.... it is easier to get forgiveness than permission

Dyna Marine's entry into Texas Duty Bowfishing airboats

I am having Dyna Marine build me a new bowfishing airboat designed to better handle the back water stumps and river rocks and big deep water that we oftentimes encounter in Texas........ I am very impressed so far... 18x8 Evo with 1/2" Blue Iron UHMW on bottom, 9 of the stainless T Bars, two midship...

Re: 556hp LSA vs. 600hp 418 Water Thunder

Thanks, I have been making changes..... I have a new dyna marine hull being built, I have swapped out my 2.68 for a 2.52... I was running the blades between 1 and 1.5. Sensenich guys told me that the 1 mark was the sweet spot for those blades. I run a big heavy boat with a heavy load , I tried R bla...

Re: 556hp LSA vs. 600hp 418 Water Thunder

I got a question for you experienced engine/reduction/prop guys..... I have way more hp and torque than I normally need with my BBC (700 hp at 5200 rpm, fairly flat torque curve from 3000 rpm up). I have a four blade 86" S blade Sensenich...Unlike others, my boat has power but is a gas hog... To imp...

Re: HELP PLEASE CHEVY 383 RUNNING HOT TEMP 210

I would think 210 would be a good target temp... hot enough to boil out the condensed water in the oil... Google it.... 195 to 210 is ideal temp... don't exceed 230..

Re: Best Place to Sell Airboat?

Just my 2 cents.. Most anyone that knows anything about airboats, or anyone that searched the google search engine would look at Southern Airboats Classifieds.... For those that don't know anything about airboats but are curious they might start looking at Ebay or Craigslist.. In Texas the big airbo...

Re: any advice welcome!!!

My guess is that if you were air restricted before that you will have less rpm not more with your test....more load on your props.... more air will require you to take pitch out of your prop to gain rpm... or at least that is my experience. If you have no change in rpm you were not air restricted......

2.5 ish will give you more mpg

2.67 ish will give you more total power, but will make you spin the motor faster

Re: Any advice on removing dents and cupping between the t-b

I have tried that... aluminum stretches, so it has a memory.... you cannot put the genie back in the box. I have added more t bars in the cupped area. I have added jacks... I will never do these things again.... at the end of the day just replacing the hull is what I will do.. To answer your questio...

Re: Time for new polymer, should I try to install it myself?

My advice from fairly recent experience. Get a quote on a new hull with poly installed. You will be surprised how little it is, compared to adding t Bars, trying to press out cups, welding up all your old screw holes, reinstalling poly. I did all this on my 2002 silver dollar and I am still unhappy ...

I have a BBC on a heavy Texas river type airboat.... When bowfishing at idle to fast idle with a 2.68 drive combined with short runs throughout the night and a long run home I average about 1 to 1.3 mpg..... Re: Great news for Ecotec lovers

I have been reading posts on the ecotec and would certainly like to improve on my 1.3 mpg..... Is the ecotec engine more efficient on a pound per hp/torque than the aluminum LS engine or HEMI engine? What is the largest/heaviest aluminum boat that can still enjoy the mpg, cruise speed, dry ground ru...
