Re: 300 watt led lights

I have been cited in two different places 100 miles apart one by the city of austin lake police and one by the state of texas game warden, both said exactly the same thing... I still run mine but am willing to pay the fiddler when caught...

Re: 300 watt led lights

I have been cited once on lake Austin and once in the Brazos river. It is against texas law to run any driving lights on the boat that are not both coast guard approved AND not originally installed on the boat by manufacture at speeds over an idle. I suppose I will be cited again as it is a stupid l...

Re: Questions for the prop gurus

I have about the same size/weight airboat, 700 hp, I have a 2.67 belt drive, 86" S 4 blade pitched at just over the 1 mark and 5200 wot. I tried the short hub making 82" pitched at 1.5 and 5200 but like the performance of the longer setup better. I had a four blade R on there set at the 3 mark and 5...

Re: new motor deiseling wont shut off

I have a BBC and had the same problem. I solved my problem by putting a little throttle solenoid on my carb. When activated the rpm is at my desired level say 800. When I want to kill the engine fast, I flip a switch, the rpm drops down to 400 and I cut the switch off, I can do this at the same time...

Re: 0540 opinions

I know this is off topic but I had a discussion with a fellow carmotor airboat friend and we wanted to know what an 0540 would get mileage wise on a 16' gto saltwater high sided type boat with one person running dry following a 16' sled running a water thunder 650 hp ls3 fuel injected that was runni...

Re: Prop spinning backwards

I had the same problem with my bbc....

I solved it by putting an idle solonoid on the carb, when I flip the switch the idle drops down to about 300 and as it is doing that I can turn off the ignition with no dieseling....

pretty simple and cheap setup

I hope that I don't piss a bunch of people off, but here goes.... I personally think that this situation is being handled the way it should be..... by the owner and his friends and (airboat)family..... this is a perfect example of people helping people that they don't know and will likely never meet...

Re: SUNK.

I'll kick in $200 as well, my guess is $3000 will get someone to get it out pretty quick, that is why I pay 180 per year with BoatsUS for unlimited towing... it is pretty remote in lots of texas places with no buddies around to help out even if they wanted to...

It is 750 miles from Houston, Texas to El Paso, Texas. That is like someone in Memphis, Tenn needing help and criticizing the airboat guys in Florida for not running over to help.

Re: update: crowbar engine rebuild

I just got back from the engine rebuild shop. The original lifters were gauled and the original cylinders had too much clearance for the pistons. The graph I included shows the original pull, then we adjusted the roller rockers and did another pull and got improvement, then we discovered the lifter ...

Re: update: how long of a crowbar should be used

I picked up the lifters today, six of the eight sets were pretty badly gaulded, engine builder said it appeared measurements and honing were not sufficient when the engine was originally put together (about five hours total run time). And the cylinders were way out of tolerance and I would need to i...

Re: update: how long of a crowbar should be used

Unfortunately they were very tight in the bore and slightly gaulded. Engine has to be torn down and lifter bores honed or sleeved.

It took at 24" crowbar to try to budge the Howard lifters from my BBC engine. They had a really hard time removing the lifters from my engine, does anyone know what causes a new engine to have lifters that tight? How much power should that rob from my engine?

Modified...82" Sensenich 4 blade R props with 2.3 reduction

I would like to know if anyone has experience with running Sensenich 82" 4 blade R props with a 2.3 reduction? If so, what pitch setting and rpm did you achieve and what hp and torque did it take to turn them?

Re: Fuel pressure for a naturally aspirated BBC

I will add my 2 cents. Does your new engine have a single plane or dual plane intake. My 555 bbc came with a single plane, when I switched it to a dual plane, with no other changes I gained 400 rpm. Also, if your engine is set up to produce hp on the street or dragstrip, it might/probably/could have...
