Re: "Poly Butter" pricing

Sprayer works better  I'm willing to shell out a $100 to see what it's all about. But unfortunately have to wait until it gets a bit warmer up here in Maryland.

Re: "Poly Butter" pricing

So does this stuff stay on for a good bit of time? I would hate to climb underneath the boat while on jacks or trailer once a week/ with a paintbrush. I will mostly be running open deep water and occasional sandbars and marsh once or twice a week. :angel4:

Re: Supercharged 480

Holley carbs are great from what I hear and I am currently running one on my 480. Only issue I run into is carb ice after running it above 1/2 throttle for a few minutes.

Why OC when you can CC? That's the big question. I would not like the added attention to myself and you loose the element of surprise OC-ing. JMO

:bom: good theory. Haha. So then too much pitch would be when the motor cannot produce the max rpm's that it should? And that causes stress and **it starts breaking. Right right? 8)

Re: Warp Drive defying what i know

So when you are talking "such and such degrees at 3### rpm" are you meaning the motor will not put out any more rpm? I am trying to understand the different set ups. I have a GSO 480 which is rated for 340 hp @3400 rpm max. I have no clue what pitch I am running but I have a 79" 10 blade warp drive ...

Will they do out of state?
Yes. And you can take your boat to any state you want and they will cover it along the way and there. Great company.

Re: Intake and carb icing up

I have a lycoming Gso 480 with a Holly 4 bbl. Bought the bought in September from a guy with 40 hrs. I've put about 10 on it since and have the same problems when I am running it at 2800+ rpm for about 3-4 minutes constant. I have backed the jets down from .90's to 68's since I drove it from FL to M...

Re: GSO 480 supercharged help!

Ah! Makes sense now! Next question, how do I get it to turn 3400+ rpm without going over 35" and blowing something? That's a good question but I've never heard of anyone talk about manifold pressure on a airboat. Everyone I know has always just ran them the RPM's there suppose to run and ride the h...

Re: GSO 480 supercharged help!

I have bought myself a 15x8 aluminum diamondback with a supercharged gso 480 with 10 blade warp drive. Tried it out yesterday and the thing only goes 40mph? Something doesn't sound right here. That's at 35" manifold press @ 2750 rpm?

GSO 480 supercharged help!

Need opinions about the lycoming Gso 480 supercharged engines. How long are they normally good for? What are the negatives And positives to this engine? Should I stay away from the geared?

Re: Is being different Good?

Your engine=HEAVY!! Airboats have to skim across skinny water and dry land. Having an anchor for an engine will not help! The previous poster has it right! Do it like most others and you will have a wealth of knowledgeable people to draw upon! The only successful diesel 'skimmer' I'm familiar with ...

Is being different Good?

I'll just start off by saying I'm from Maryland and don't know they first thing about airboats. ( moved to port orange 1 yr ago) So this whole thing is going to be a learning experience for me. I am very mechanically inclined and catch on to things very quickly though. (20years old) Now, I got just ...
