Re: 435 differences

The vo operates at higher rpm and has a snappier cam.the hp difference comes from rpm.all the accessories on it mount on 90 degree adapters.case and crank are different to accommodate a transmission so they require a seal plate and prop adapter.sump will be different also.

Re: Airboat Trailer question about bunks

If you don't anticipate a lot of hard dry running, you're better with slick bottom.i can't imagine a boat that big,de being a hill burner.and, polymer can be tricky for a novice to install and i hate drilling holes in a boat.lol.if you go poly, carpeted bunks arekinda more cosmetic than functional, but ...

I see 4.3s in the grass all the time on sleds.they seem to do very well with a reduction, and Turkey Tom has one rd that he runs everywhere and seems very pleased with.

Re: Help fixing a belly on aluminum hull

If you're doing a rebuild, and you want to have a quality boat that will last, you should maybe consider getting the bottom replaced.if you factor your time, and the materials you will use to fill those tunnels( which is a rig,and unnecessary weight) against having a sheet of metal put in the bottom yo...

Your stock gpu rods will work.but i suggest if you're not mechanically able and have access to a lathe you take it to a pro and have your stockys resized.mine were done by a man in lakeport.im sure some one on here will chime in with someone reputable near you.jmo.

Re: Engine choices

I agree that a 350 is a little large for a 12'. But if you're thinking automotive size and weight wise you should seriously consider a 4.3 v-6. Size, weight and power wise its very comparable to the gpu with less of it's shortcomings.I've seen some very nice set ups lately and think its a very overlo...

I sandblast the area to be recoated then cut in the new material.of course im in the sandblasting business.on an aluminum hull though, you should use more than just steelflex.the old original should be used as a base then lightly roughed up and recoated with a slicker coat such as frogspit,2001,quick...

Bdriller is entirely correct.you should be running 53 or better dd.those gso's run for sure, but if i were you i would take a good look at my set up.possibly you need some jacks.unless you have a lot of aluminum, you're considerably heavier than the gso.
