fuel injection or carb?
Gonna get off my duff and try to get the 454 off and dthe 496 on this summer. Benefits/negatives of above? Is the increase in fuel mileage and reliability and weatherproof issues worth the extra jack? Have a carb that barely is big enough for the 454 from what I understand so adding 200 HP I'd have ...

Yep, interesting in that I typically sleep during the summer, and hunt during the winter.

Re: Inflatable PFD discussions.
anyone that owns an airboat and complains about cost of PFDs needs a good reality slap IMHO.
Cheapest airboat vs PFD cost. Really?
Even cost of one tank of fuel these days vs PFD?

Re: Jacksonville Area help?
Bryant, thanks for the PM. Lets hope he has time and can work it out. I know he'd love it and he'll be so far away from stuff like this at times over the next 4 years I'd like to see him have all the fun he can when he has time.

Jacksonville Area help?
I know I"m asking a lot. But I have a nephew about to head to Jacksonville for 2.5 mos of training with the Marines before shipping out. He loves to fish. Anyone in the area willing to take him if he can find time on a Sunday IF they will be allowed to? I'd be much obliged and owe a lot. PM me ...

Great input! I'll clamp it all from now, even when I change it.
Safety wire any bolts or screws.. but the next I"m a dummy question... drill a tiny hole through bolt head to attach wire? What wire, some SS braid fishing leader with crimps or such?

Re: Need quick replacement
sorry, welded to headers, then flex is welded to a muffler that goes out the back of the transom on each side.
I need to be able to do it without welding at this time on the quick and cheap.
So its just a replacement.

Have not had time or money to do the setup I want. I have flex welded straight to headers.. In the meantime what can I do to replace as is.. IE cut off the end of header, get the braided piece to give flex, tie it to flex and clamp flex to a new SS pair of mufflers? NO welding? That would allow me l...

Grass Planting Injury
TAA has been in the forefront of providing boats to restore estuaries in TX. The last 2 years or so its been a big project in Corpus. We have had some die hard locals going to support the needs for transportation, and we've had a few folks that are reliable from out of town. One of these guys thats ...

496 top torque at 6000 RPMS or maybe 5900. Don't think I want 2.5 inch pipe there? Gives 615 hp and I forget the torque number right there... need to prepare for the new motor.

Re: Holy cow, 1 month left!!!
How did it turn out? I haven't been on SA much at all this year, just too busy. My weekend turned out ok on Sunday night, 10 point typical with couple of stickers, but 2 had snapped off the day before I shot him, 5.5 years old appx 130 inches. Decent deer for my area. 8 yard shot. 40 yard run appx. ...

cost of SS?
3 inch magnaflo brand IIRC, according to my muffler man... 3 inch ss 90 is 55.00. All parts for a 3 inch system wiht 3 mufflers over 1000.00 bucks. Says his bender will wrinkle SS tubing if bent.... Something like 4 90s 4 45s, a pair of short woven vibration things, header flange. RV ss crossover mu...

Re: Muffler Questions
3 mufflers? That's a TON of restriction and lost power! I run Dynomax straight thru race mufflers and I am amazed at the difference in my boats performance if I run straight pipes. BTW I heard, and can't comment, that using the right mufflers can add power, rather than straight pipes, that the engi...

Re: Muffler Questions
Thanks for the input guys, got a bit busy. Had forgot about the sound forum... need to copy/paste and go there.... its there that I got the idea of a big crossover, and 2 smaller ones. Performance is one thing, but sound kills us out there and I like quiet. A lot. Hence the idea of crossing over and...

Looking for any tips... 454 that will be swapped for 496 later... the flex pipes are cracking so time to replace system. Re: Need Alt bracket for 454 Felber
BTW will check with some of the links. Steel would not have done it. Cast did. IF you have to shim something then its not correct IMHO, were steel would be fine.
Thanks for the info. Jegs had nothing and neitehr did auto folks in town.

Re: Need Alt bracket for 454 Felber
It’s a shame you drug Mike Felber’s name into something by your own admission that he didn’t have anything to do with. It would have been more helpful if you shared a photo of the broken cast mount where someone could probably help you find a suitable heavy duty replacement. I only did that to tell...

Need Alt bracket for 454 Felber
No clue here, other than the pivot bolt is on top, the tension on the bottom, and as you face the motor Alt is on right. Top bracket had 3 bolts holding it onto the head IIRC, very heavy but for some reason cast metal junk. It cracked and caused an overheat and blown hose the other night. No one in ...

O540 Lycoming carb parts ?
My buddy has the O540, updraft and marvel something carb ... MA4-5. Carb kits here are 300 bucks plus. All he needs is a bowl gasket and says something about what seems to me would be an accelarator pump, that needs the gasket/seal for that shaft for the pump. Can those be bought individually? A flo...
