Re: Loose valve cover bolts on 350 sbc

I have a 4.3l vortec with the same style bolts and used lock tite on mine. I've had them back off since no problem. Just clean with wire brush and put new lock tite on each time.

Re: Will this work?

I have a 12x 8 with a 4.3 Chevy and run 3 people on it. It sits at just below half hull at rest(21") transom. I'm know there are better opinions than mine, but I think that 3 people would be a lot to ask of that sled.

Re: Is freezer burn cosidered jerky

Since it was brought up, are there people that bag their frog legs without adding water to the bag. We have always froze ours in water. I grew up in central MO. Limit is six per person per night. Sure wish I could catch as many a night as you FL boys.

Is this a DD? I'd love if you can send me the specs on your setup. I have a 500 I'm fixing to build.

Re: New cage wire size.

Not much brush out on the sand flats here in OK where I run. I set my mind on 4x4" squares. Made a flat top cage instead of the typical round. It's looking good.

Re: New cage wire size.

Kinda why I'm leaning towards 3x3. An adult would have to work a bit to get a hand through that. I don't believe the hole size would affect performance enough for me to care on a hunt rig. Just don't wanna go too big for safety reasons.

New cage wire size.

I am building a new cage out of 3/4" and 1" conduit. I have seen squares from 2x4" to as big as what looks like 6x6". I am gonna use 11 guage wire in a square or diamond pattern. What square size. I am thinking 3x3" or 4x4". Thoughts? Concerns?

Re: Nitrous help.

I'm debating putting in a second pump to feed the fuel solenoid on the plate. Would be a backup for the engine of the primary were to quit as well then. How does the wot switch function. Is it a trigger or just a go no go for the solenoid control switch? My main problem was finding jetting informati...

Re: Nitrous help.

Is there a way to dial back total timing only when the shot occurs with an hei dist? My boat will be a turd with only 26 deg of total timing without the nos. The tables I found said for 100 hp I need to remove only 4* total timing. Which would put my boat at 32. Was gonna start with 30 deg and check...

Nitrous help.

Does anyone have any direct experience putting a nitrous plate under the carb on a 4.3l Chevy vortec. I'm looking for a starting point for the jet size. The only info I can find is for a 350 Chevy. Best I can tell with my research, I plan to start with a 37 jet for nos and a 41 for fuel. That is the...

Re: OPINIONS would a 4.3 dd work on this hull

I'm not sure what you're looking for but my 2013 apache may be for sale very soon. It has a DD 4.3 on it. The prop and cage touched and made both look real ugly but I am fixing to start rebuilding it. The engine is a fresh build. Everything was done this spring. Not hurting to sell but I have a 500 ...

Re: OPINIONS would a 4.3 dd work on this hull

I wouldn't recommend it. I put a 4.3L DD on a 10x6 Gilleo. Sunk it first trip out. Couldn't handle the torque roll. I put the motor and prop On a 12 by 8 apache. I wouldn't feel comfy with a 4.3 on anything smaller than an 11x7.

Picked up a caddy.

So I picked up a caddy from a car guy. It has been gone through at some point by someone. Was told it was bored .030 over. And has upgraded valve springs. Guy I bought it from wasn't sure about the cam. How do I ID as a true 500 if the cam isn't factory? Where can I get measurement info on the bore ...

Re: Broken bolt in block HELP!

Just drill it out and cut 7/16" threads back into the hole. Use a 3/8" drill bit. Be careful to go no more than 1"-1.5" into the block. You will have to drill a 7/16" hole in your motor mount to accommodate the new bolt. Any hardware store will have a 7/16" tap to cut the threads. Thread it with a s...

Thanks guys. I will pull the pan and look. This guy is a true car guy and have no reason to believe he is lying. He has a rat rod he built with a caddy 500 in it that will lift the front axle easily so I am assuming he knows the caddy engines well. Should get to look at it later this week. If it's i...

Re: tell me how to build the best boat for 10K

My advice is to find a hull and rigging to fit your needs in the classifieds. It may take a while and you'll have to go to FL to get it but you can do what you want after that. I bought a 2013 panther hull, rigging, and trailer off the classifieds here and built a DD V6 boat for around 6k. Had to re...

Caddy advice needed

I don't know much about these motors at all. I know they are the god of DD airboat engines. I found one that has been rebuilt. Not sure on the details until I look at it. Was told it has upgraded valve springs. Not sure of much else. What should I look for? How do I tell it's a true 500 caddy block....
