Re: management area hunting

Yep.....I learned you either walk through and cross some deep water to hunt alone or sit close to the road and deal with it. This year sitting close to the road worked best. Bow and muzzle loader kills.

Re: The used LS3 option.....

The LS3 is an impressive engine. I have a SS with a 6 speed and it was built to spin up RPM's. The heads on the engine are sweet. If you can grab one at $1500 it is a no brainier.

Re: The used LS3 option.....

Bud the used LS3 engines that I have seen are selling around $4500 so if you have a running LS3 at $1500 jump on it!

I think you need to wait until we see the machine shop report. Email me we can bounce around options.

Re: Kayaking in area 2?

Two things to add to this discussion.

1) Pot is legal in Colorado so trade the Kayak for a Snowboard and hit the slopes!

2) Buy life insurance to cover the final arrangements because your placing yourself at extreme risk.

Re: Carb for 454

Holley Carb tech center says for a stock 454cid engine running under 5,000 rpm that 650cfm 4bbl is the recommended selection.

Re: Carb for 454

The big block HO crate engines are not a "stock" 454 CID they are modified performance in mind. I ran a 454 330hp on a 650cfm and it was perfect for that application. So based on my experience it did a great job. The 750cfm will work well too but is a little more than a stock low rpm engine needs.

Re: What's the big deal with these NGQ props

To me it seems like a value! If I am going to enhance my engine to get the power and torque for added push and performance it would cost a whole lot more than the several hundred dollars more for a prop upgrade. :proud:

Re: Carb for 454

Not real sure why you guys don't run the auto choke. It's only a single 12volt wire and really makes start up smooth. The Holly 650 with vacuum sec. and electric choke is a perfect and efficient carb for a stock or slightly modified engine spinning up 4500 rpm.

Re: Tips on buying a used airboat..(things to look for)

Bring along someone who has built or owned boats!
There are just so many things to look at to make sure you get a reliable and safe sled.

When in doubt take it to an expert and pay a few bucks to get it looked over and for their opinion.

Re: does running hog dogs effect deer activities?

Pro - If you remove the hog population the deer will have more food sources due to lack of competing interests. Con - Deer and dogs don't mix. If there is a dog in the woods the deer are going to move. If you were to have a 30 day period over the winter where you go in and thin the pigs that should ...

All things equal, any 4 stroke gasoline engine that is out of time or running with an incorrect advance will under perform and / or have other issues. PM sent

Hard starting
Power loss
Detonation (spark knock)
Pop through the carb
Run a little hotter
