Re: Prop spacing from back board
My second car engine boat years ago (350 buick DD) was bad to porpoise at full throttle. We moved the engine stand/seat frame (everything but the cage & rudders) forward two inches, and it ran perfect. It doesn't take much movement to make a big difference in weight distribution. Same thing with mov...

Re: Distributor Timing Asvance
If I'm understanding what I've read here correctly; why does everyone say it's best to disconnect the vacuum advance from the distributor, and run a static distributor timing when an automotive engine is used to power an airboat? I'm pretty much lost on this... You are trying to further your unders...

Re: Airboat for humanitarian work
In all fairness to the original poster, I will say that he PM'd me that information, simply stating that when doing forum type research he preferred to not put their name in the spotlight, which makes sense. As that is his decision to make for whatever reasons he may have, I don't feel it's my plac...

"Not that it's relevant, but just out of curiosity, what organization is it that you work for ?"
Hmmm; interesting that you got a wishy-washy reply...chrisanderson wrote:Thanks Deano for taking the time, much appreciated! Your generic ramblings will indeed keep me busy for the time being!

Re: Battery
I always run on both, same as my outboard boat.
Of course, they're wired parallel. Not too many 24 volt systems in use today, outside of the military...
That said; whenever the airboat stops, the Perco gets turned to "off."

Re: Which Belt Drive Ratio ?????? Help!!
I have a 2/1 belt drive turning a three bladed whirlwind prop. It rumbles a bit at idle, but is pretty quiet otherwise. Edited to add: 425 HP 454 Edelbrock crate engine with a dual feed 750 Holley. The hull is an 18X8 (plus two foot grass catcher) aluminum with no poly. We run over rock and oyster b...

I think that's a sound decision.G@rrett1 wrote:After doing some more research and talking to a few people I think I am going to go with 316 Stainless.

Re: Having trouble starting in cold weather
I have a dual feed 750 Holly with manual choke that I keep locked open with a zip tie on the linkage.
It cranks and runs no matter what.
Engine is a 425 HP 454 Edelbrock crate moror.

Re: Top airboat manufacturers?
Floral City Airboats is another manufacturer that you should check out.
They're in Floral City in SW Florida, and do some pretty good work.
