Re: 0-540 oil capacity

I run 10-12 quarts in mine and it burns around 1 quart per 25-30 gallons of gas. Have never let it get below 9-10 quarts though. They will always burn oil using 7 to 12 quarts. Just have to find the sweet spot. I usually start at 12 quarts for the weekend and by the time i use up 40-50 gallons of ga...

I change my oil every 25 hours then give my old oil to my continental buddy which then leaks it all out.

Re: Airboat insurance

As of yesterday at 2 pm when I spoke with them and they quoted me they insured airboats in Florida. Just called and they can't do mine because it's 260+ HP. But you are right if it was say around 200 HP they could insure it. guess i will stay with charter lakes for around 650. On another note i swi...

Re: GPU shut down using lean/rich lever?

Most engine builders test run, tune and or change out the carbs to match what engine it's being used on (mine did but wont say name). Therefore giving it the right air/fuel mixture etc. Then you just pull the lean/rich cable looking for a slight rpm rise etc at shut down.

yea i know its not a lean carb. it a jurnigan 540 with only 75 hours on it. also was doing it with old jurnigan motor. could be moisture getting in but why wouldn't the rigging show the same symptoms as the cage.

Prop Guard Cracking And Rusting Out?

Need input as to why my 3 year old prop gaurd keeps cracking and rusting out so quick? Comparing it to my rigging that is at least 8+ years old is in much better shape than my 3 year old prop guard. Both of them are steel and allready the prop guard is rusted and cracked again. Prop guard has been r...

Re: lycoming break-in

When i got my motor from jurnigan it was allready broke in. They run them on the test stand for around 1 1/2 hours tuning them etc. Then run mineral oil for up to 50 hours. Mine was changed over to regular oil at around 25-30 hours. The sooner you can get the mineral oil out the better. Just run it ...
