Duece, The pe-150 hp rating @ 150 is the milspec rating for the engine. 0-470 is the cubic inch displacement for the unit. The genset or pump or whatever the application for the military was 150hp @ x#rpm. The engine can turn 220hp but @ 3200rpm, but props should only go to 2750rpm max. Realisticall...

Pred. maybe a little research is in order on your end there. The engine my father had was already old when he got it. It's not even referenced anymore. It had a single barrel downdraft carb on the front with a rubber hose cold air intake( did not go thru the oil pan). It was military surplus from th...

Olf Art, The State of Fl. might not be as innocent as you think. Rumor has it that Charlie Christ has a major interest in a development in East Manatee county. They are going east all the way to the county line with concrete. He is also rumored to be running for Govenor in the next election. What is...

Preach on man! You are so right. We have lost so much it is incredible. I feel your pain. And they are not preserving anything. We are very lucky that the preserved lands we have were laid down when they were because that would never happen today. And it needs to be done. On a large scale too. ENOUG...

There is always current issues where I see them. Mostly are kinda at a loss as to good photos and tech/manufacturing or even places to ride. And Red is right about the grammer. The contributors write well, but staff writing sucks. This thing costs money, it should be what it should be. And they seem...

There are some p.e. 90 gpu's posted on Airboat Trader for $1500.00. They are listed under parts for sale. As far as a deckover hull you would need something that would push through a swell. Lo profile deck boats will not handle chop as well as deep hulled boats. Alumitech, GTO, Diamondback will deck...

This YAHOO group is a pretty good resource on LYCOMING. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/lycoming/ The narrow deck 360 & 540 straight valve cylinders can be the same. You will need to determine chrome -vs- nitrided -vs plain hardened steel cylinders. I learned this the hard way. That determines the...

So what I'm reading is even though the three major brands all perform reasonbly the same in static thrust tests, one of them is actually manufactured to FLY. So at speed it's aerodynamic is made to turn through air and not just be a FAN. That in itself would probably eliminate some sound signature j...

Maybe Cowboy's comparison is how to get the equivilent performance from a low hp 220gpu. It seems there would be alot of advantages. All aircraft six cylinders range from 6,000 to 10,000 it seems with standard hp from 260 to 300hp. With the tech that the gearbox adds makes the 220gpu fuel effecient,...
