Rt 50 Boat Ramp

Only two more weeks and we're going to have our brand new, beautiful boat ramp finished in Christmas, FL. No more sliding around in the mud under the bridge. It's been a long summer without our ramp, but August first is almost here. :toothy7:

Re: Airboater

When it comes to engines, I've rebuilt two and bought one. I can tell you right now, buying one already built from Waterthunder was a way better deal. Some people say that they can't afford to pay someone to fix their car. I can't afford to fix it myself. I guess with age an experience you learn whe...

Re: Stuff that drives engine builders crazy

It's tough when a new part right of the box causes problems. Because the first thought is what did I do wrong? Glad you were able to finally figure it out Dave.

Thanks for setting me straight about hovercrafts. Makes since that an obstruction could colapse the air it rides on.

Re: ultimate airboat.....

As much as this pains me, and it really does, but isn't a hovercraft the ultimate "airboat?" They seem to go anywhere with little effort and very low horsepower and I've even seen them in the ocean on youtube. But there must be drawbacks I don't know about because I've never seen one where I run and...

http://www.centurydrivesystemsinc.com/ I've dealt with these guys and if you give them a call, they will mail them right to you. Plus if you have any questions or concerns they will help you with that too. Be sure and follow the directions when installing your belt drive and don't bend the flex plat...

Re: Driver Adjustable Prop on the Water Walker Concept AirBo

Adjustable prop pitch on an airboat has a real future. The way it is now, we all drive around in first gear all the time.

Re: vibration ?

Mike 77905, that sounds like my vibration at a different rpm slot. I tried moving my blades to different positions in the hub with no luck. If I take pitch out of the props, it vibrates at a higher rpm, say 2900 to 3100. I'm pretty sure one cause of the rpm slot vibration is caused by the prop tips ...

Re: vibration ?

I think all airboats are going to vibrate some. My small block belt drive setup vibrates more between 2700 and 3000, but vibrates at all speeds including idle. I would think the level of vibration more important. I would call the vibration of a pickup going 25 mph down a washboarded dirt road to be ...

I hope my air cleaner story saved some heart ache. On that trip I had a couple of nuts in my tool box so I could jam nut that turkey. I wish I had spell-checked my title though, it would have "payed off."

A Safety Tip Payed Off

I was launching my airboat at Christmas, Florida about two years ago and a buddy of mine, Johnny Long, said, “Friend do yourself a favor and wire that air cleaner of yours to the cage.” So I drilled a hole in the top and bottom of my air cleaner and ran a wire through the covers and the filter. Then...

Seems like you should be getting more rpms. Are you sure when the gas petal is to the floor the carb. Is wide open throttle?

Re: LS 1 oil question

I shopped at Autozone and Parts City. All they had was the heavy VR-1 oil like 50 weight and 20w50. I see where Valvoline makes VR-1,10w30 but don't know where to buy it in the Cocoa, Merritt Island area.

I once had a pet tarantula that I fed lubbers. Sucked all the juice right out of them. They looked like a shriveled balloon when that big old spider finnished with them.

Re: Where does the oil go?

Interesting. I would also have to say that after changing the oil and filter and putting in the amount of oil the manual calls for, it's always a little past full on the dip stick. Thanks for the explanation.

Where does the oil go?

Why is it that when I change oil in my airboat or truck, I never get out the same as I put in it? My pickup takes 5.5 quarts of oil. When I pour the old oil back into the jug the new oil came out of, I only get a little over 4 quarts. I always change the filter, pour it into the pan, and let the oil...

I was looking at the picture Raizincane posted with the beautful lady, and after about 10 minutes I noticed the engine on the airboat. Does anyone know what kind of engine that is? I'd really like to know.

What you say makes since HuntingBigun. My next oil change will be with Valvolline VR-1 racing oil. Can I get that at any automotive shop and does it come in 10W40?
