I currently have a 10 foot Gililieo with a Lycoming O-290-D. I have an oil temp and cht to monitor my temps. The problem on packed snow and ice is trying to stop. It takes a little practice to figure it out. I usually spin the boat around and go the opposite direction on ice. They really move.

When I rebuild aircraft engines I always use the silk thread with Permatex Aviation Fom-A-Gasket. I use Tite-Seal for the crankshaft seal. Yes it does get cold here. Here's a picture of my first airboat in the snow. They are fun on the snow and especially the ice. I'll download a video later when I figure out how to do so.
