Re: Pump gas and aircraft engines.

I tried running super unleaded in my GSO-480, that was the last time being I dropped a valve seat and sheared the intermediate super charger shaft in half (but still made it back to the ramp, try that with a car engine). I have run av full in it since I rebuilt the front gear box and replaced the ju...

Re: Sealing polished aluminum rudders

Aluma-Brite works wonders, makes the aluminum look new, but needs to be sealed, Spray it on hose it off in 60 seconds. A gallon makes four spray-able gallons and only cost about $22.00 at a Marine Store. Then clear it with a marine clear

Re: GSO 480 fuel consumtion and dependability?

I'm running twin carbs as long as I'm just cruising 1800-2100 rpms I'm actually pretty good on fuel, I burn about 1-2 gallons more then my buddies boat which he is running a o-435 but running 2800 rpms to keep up. But I'm running the geared unit. Mine is definitely reliable and runs great. I did hav...

Adding Fans to a Shroud

Does anyone know if adding 2 1500 CFM electric fans on top of a shroud have any negative affects. Or will this assist in increasing the airflow lowering the CHT? Just a thought, just ordered CHT sensors and was going to give it a try without the shroud, with the shroud and with the shroud and fans a...

Re: Won't idle

Had a similiar issue it was a issue with the float in the carb where the needle was not seating. The boat ran great above 1000 RPM but would not idle. In this case the carb spilled out fuel at idle thou.

Re: Starter gear tooth count

If you make a bracket, a Chevy starter will work right out of the box no switching the pinion gear. I placed one on my GSO-480. Prior, I had a Toyota starter and broke off several of the ears to the starter causing it to destroy my Ring gear. Best of all any auto parts store has them in stock for a ...

ask anyone whom capsized their boat in deep water if the which they had a vest. They tend to float out of vessels upon sinking depending on the boat. And as a police diver it makes it easier to locate and recover bodies. There is always auto inflates if your not to manly to wear one they come in bel...

Re: Florida Wildlife Commisssion officer nonsensical stops...

Under Florida law You don't need a reason to stop a vessel, a safety inspection is good enough. Not saying there are not any officers out there that might need re-training or personal skills, but there are many good ones out there doing thier jobs well. Being in law enforcement (not FWC) I have the ...

Re: hull help please!!!!

Well there is less surface area touching the ground which in tail would make less resistance reducing the drag factor. (I have an aluminum hull and it looks like that to, it runs fine I just replaced the Poly. The bad part it appears to wear unevenly)
