220 headers.

I just found some cracks in the collector on my header  who makes them? Also is there any difference in performance if I go from three inch to two and half inch collectors? Thanks Chris. :florida:

Re: need some info on a 220 gpu PLZ!

I've had mine for nine years and ran it for the first five on 93 pump gas you have to let it cool off when you get where you are going. I had the top end rebuilt and started using av-gas and I noticed a difference in performance, probably the rebuild but I have been using it ever since. 8) I still l...

Re: What is a better DD? 220GPU or 500 Caddy???

I'm just looking for input I am interested in a 500 Caddy boat. I like the performance of my 220 and was wondering if I would be gaining or loosing performance by switching to a caddy. I have had my boat for ten years and it's time for a change, and I do not want to spent a lot of money and I like d...

Re: What is a better DD? 220GPU or 500 Caddy???

Pipedog, your boat and my boat are very close. I have a 13.6 Cottonmouth with poly and heavy rigging. The engine is stock except for the Holley 500. I have a 72 WW Stump Puller and it runs dry climbing levees etc, and it is not a hill burner. Its a great boat and I've had it for almost ten years jus...

Re: What is a better DD? 220GPU or 500 Caddy???

Thanks for all the input! I'm just kicking it around I've had my 220 for ten years! I was just wondering how the two engines compared. Guess I'll put another ten years on this motor and just enjoy the ground pounder. 8) :florida:

Re: What is a better DD? 220GPU or 500 Caddy???

My GPU has been a great engine and the only thing I am getting tired of is av gas prices and going out of the way to get it. I'm just drawn to that 500 Caddy!?!? I've never even ridden on a DD Caddy boat I just like the looks and simplicity of them. How long do they hold up in a airboat without thru...

What is a better DD? 220GPU or 500 Caddy???

I just finished rebuilding my GPU and it is running great I am still curious about the Caddy 500's. How do these two engines compare in performance as a DD? :?

Grew up in Coral Springs and always heard them in 2A never gave them a second thought. Went for a ride on my uncles boat on Okeechobee and I was HOOKED!!! His boat was a Big O hull with eight cylinder Continental, eight blade Warp and a 150 shot of n02!

Re: How do you separate the head from the barrel on GPU cyli

I know that they are threaded on and I think they have to be heated to separate. I have herd it was possible to do with a little effort I am wondering what tools I will need, and how much effort!? 8)

How do you separate the head from the barrel on GPU cylinder

Thinking of trying to get rid of some bad heads on good cylinders. How do you do it and do I need any special tool?
Thanks, Chris

Re: Help with Continental GPU 220

Water in the cylinders and pan??? Was it stored without a carb on it or sunk? It's all about your budget, if it was me I think I would find a GPU fresh out of a generator. They are around $ 2000 to $2500. The boat is in the water and you can salvage what you can from the other engine for spare parts...

2x4 prop guard wire

Where around Port St Lucie can I get the wire fence material to redo my prop guard? I would like to find a piece large enough to to it in one piece, I've been to Tractor Supply in Ft Pierce and they didn't have what I'm looking for.
Thanks, Chris. :florida:

I bring my boat and put in at the marina every time I go there. How long ago was this or is it something new? It's been six months since I've been out there.

When I was in class the instructor said the license was going to be more difficult to get soon. I went to Chapman School of Seamanship here in Stuart it was a good school b...

This summer I started the process to get a six-pack USCG License. It came in the mail yesterday! 8) I was just wondering how many people on this site have them? My 13.6 Cottonmouth porpoised when I bought it. I jumped a levy and broke the trim tab and bounced all the way back to the trailer. In 2005 I bought a new hull and adjusted the angle on the motor until it stopped. See if you can adjust the engine angle, if not use the screw jack to push the bottom d...
