Re: Tuning an o470?

sounds like an idle screw adjustment to lean the mixture is needed and maybe a small increase in idle rpm will help so it don't load up at an idle...those engines are not real efficient at an idle when there cold that is why the airplane guys always warm'em up at a higher rpm than operating temp idl...

Re: Tuning an o470?

if I remember right your engine WAS fuel injected av i0-470 so there is no truly matched carb ever built for that engine...so I built a carb for an oem 0-470 carbureted engine which is as close as I could get...you asked if there was any other tuning options for your setup....... yea there is ...the...

Re: seal behind flywheel came out

That was a concern. It did not look like it had any adhesive on it before so I did not use any. I did put the split on the top. I don't see any sign of it having a plate that bolts on to help hold it inn place but I'm going to look again to see if that is a possibility. I have a 3m adhesive that I ...

Re: Running with low oil pressure question

what oil lines are the wrong size....sounds like ya need a new pressure spring or a couple of shims behind the old one....40-50 at operating temp is a bit low for the 540 but not way low

I change my oil and add lucas oil stabilizer every 15-20 hrs and check and clean the oil screen cause after all that is the oil filter on your engine unless a remote filter has been installed....if it was me and I didn't know when the last time the screen was cleaned and it did have some sparkle in ...

the easiest and most accurate way to find what the timing is set at in degrees btdc would be with an aircraft timing wheel and magneto timing/syncro light...I know there are a lot of different ways to figure out ABOUT where the timing is but this is what I use....if and only if your flywheel is inst...

the carb is off a 6 cyl 210 franklin engine......should be an oil screen behind the nut I believe...never seen a sump screen on a 360 like that but there are a lot of different engine models....also don't seem like much prop for a 360 ....sweet little boat !!!

if ya don't or cant run avgas there will be an issue with heating maybe not severe but still an issue especially if the timing and the carb are all set as if you were supposed to be running avgas....the airport where I get avgas told me the same thing...told him I don't have a plane then he said hel...

I would look at fuel/air or timing related...maybe the wrong carb, lean/rich lever not on full rich, intake leak, timing or mags not in sync.....had one doing that here a while back and found out that the lean rich lever was put on with no positioning pin and the engine was running terrible lean and...
