Re: PE60 or PC60 - Original Case MAG timing??

I was always told that the PE-60 was a 90hp engine with the timing at 30BTDC.....maybe its a different version???.....regardless that is a nice looking setup you have for sure.....I cant help but think the problems with the rough idle and running are mag and sparkplug related and not so much timing....

Re: PE-60 Raw Fuel in crankcase Breather Tank

if you find that there is in fact fuel in the crankcase breather tank...I would say the only way for raw fuel to get directly into the crankcase would be thru the mechanical fuel pump.

I will know the answer to that after I explain all this to the owner to see if he wants to "do it right".....he is also not turning enough prop for his engine......... 70" narrow blade whirlwind on a AV 540...WHAT!!!!

Re: MA-4-5 carb/engine application

first the AV-540 was a fuel injection engine many guys opt out for a carb instead of the FI SO the correct carb for the AV-540 Lycoming is an MA-4-5 for an 0-540...... the 540 versions have a larger throttle bore, throttle valve and venture....easiest way to tell is by the throttle valve (butterfly)...

Re: MA-4-5 carb/engine application

this carb is on an AV 540 and the engine seems to just not be the horse it should be .....knowing what I know now IMO it is not enough carb for that engine to preform properly and needs a 540 carb

I ran corvair engines for several years back in the 70's and we always ran with the fan and upper fan shroud and without the lower cooling baffles....it seemed to keep that center cyl cooler by moving the engine heat and exhaust manifold heat down and and away from the engine....there was always the...
