Re: timing mags/ snapping the impulse coupling

I have found that when ya start frankeinsting engines with different cyls, cams, compression ratios, carburetors etc that a slight retard in timing helps in several ways...I have my modified 0-360 set at 22 degress btdc and it preforms much better, runs cooler and starts better than at 25 degrees...b...

Re: 520 rich/misfire?

if and only if the carb is a MA-6AA helicopter carb and has not been converted or modified.....I had a very similar problem with an 0-540 and a 6AA carb last week and what had happened was the AMC unit had failed and was dumping unjetted fuel into the main nozzle

Re: MA-4SPA 10-3678-32 Parts Diagram/List

there is usually a list of the contents on the kits ...I have found the aircraft kits have a lot of parts in them that airboaters don't necessarily use like safety clips etc that are required by the faa for an aircraft carb....as far as the shafts wearing out usually the bushings wear before the sha...

Re: O320 160hp over heating and running rough

is it the right carb with the right jet nozzle?...if its running rough it may just be a mag, plug or wire problem....try a mag drop test at 1800rpm and see if ya got an ign problem...might be a busted impulse spring or carbon track or etc.

X2....KRAZYMATT......both mags on the 435 are left hand rotation.....I have never seen a dist gear marked "with impulse" unless these are the old old lunch box bendix mags ...most lyc engines time at 25 btdc but the old 435 times at 15

also that engine has an oil screen that filters the oil....just unscrew it from the accessory housing clean it out and put her back in...it is good to do this everytime ya change oil plus it lets ya check how the engine is wearing inside

Re: continental 0300

you can get a key start starter to bolt right in where the pull starter is....probably cheaper that a conversion kit especially if you have the stock generator/alternator already...they are not real expensive and you can use the same clutch drive assembly...just need the starter and a solenoid
