Re: PROPELLER POSITION

JMHO.... you should not have any noticable loss in thrust, with only 7" below the transom. I have a boat with almost 12" below!!! and no considerable loss of thrust there. ( I have been told ) The boat has a 84" 3 blade R and is 20' + HEAVY, but will run dry loaded with 7 passengers! ...

Re: CARB QUESTION.

A 600 CFM carb should be the correct one for your app.. Country is right, you need way more prop speed to bring that R to life.. Your friends 750 is gonna be way too much carb, unless you start turning 6000 rpms. Review your cam card and you will probably find your torque curve is plummiting at just...

If I recall correctly, Mack Jones and Marvin Smith were there with airboats, helping with the extraction process. There were alot of people who would have died, had it not been for the selfless efforts of those brave men that night. If anyone would like specifics, just PM me.

Re: Used Airboat???

Looks like a 78" stump puller to me and pitch doesn't look like it is at 25 mark either. Mabey the air filter is restricting flow of those cubes! looks like a 9-10"fliter. Agreed with other folks on here, that motor, with a 2.1 or a 2.3 .1 ,should swing a 82-84" 3 blade super wide at ...

As previously stated, The 383 is a better choice for you. I personally have one of Norris' "BLUE PRINT ENGINES"

Built specifically for an airboat. BPA3834CTC1 Should be the part #

You will love it and won't break the bank.

Keep building great engines Norris!! :salute:

Re: Will changing Carburetor and intake increase HP?

YES, but probably only 10-20hp differience. :usa: Change the cam, while you are at it. Only a couple bills more for a K-kit and you can build the hp. and torque where and when you need it. 12-236-3 from Comp cams works well with stock heads and a gear box , but not for direct drive. Hope this helps

That boat (no offense to the owner) looks like a $2000- 2500 set up here in FL. If you had any intent to buy it, take it to e reputable engine builder and have the motor checked by a pro. Keep on looking and asking S.A. members for advice. :thumbleft: My brother has a couple boats for sale, but in s...
