Re: Lake Washington restrictions are coming!

I agree when ya move you should expect the same sounds that have been there but that's just not how it works, never has and never will. Trains can't blow there horns before and after certain times, they have had to change the schedules so not to run to late and wake someone up. Small Airports have hav...

Re: Lake Washington restrictions are coming!

Sorry, but no. However I will say if there just cruising most of what you hear is the prop though. But once running dry or hot roding that goes out the window.

Re: Lake Washington restrictions are coming!

Now bruce, you know just as well as I do there are a lot of ear piercing aircrafts out there as well. I've sat at bulldozer cabin and listened to alot of boats coming and going from boseman cabin and the loudest ones I've herd are aircraft once they hit the shore or get in to it showing off. In the w...

Re: Lake Washington restrictions are coming!

I didn't miss a damn thing. I have headers to flex it to large stainless borla mufflers that are a factory direct replacement for a car. I chose them so they wouldn't rust out every couple years. They go through the hull out the back. You just seem to be so high on your horse that you think only a s...

Re: Lake Washington restrictions are coming!

Again,I agree. And it says and adequate muffling device. Its not the people who try that cause the problem,it's those that will do just enough to get by that will be the ones that make it worse. And in my opinion the Lil inserts and cones and just enough to get by. What car,or truck, comes with a vor...

Re: Lake Washington restrictions are coming!

Bruce I agree, and,by the law, they ain't legal. You AC guys with headers with baffles are not legal. The law states automotive factory type muffling device. NO car comes factory with headers that have a baffle in them and no other exhaust. I'm not telling anyone what to do,just saying it how I see it

Re: Lake Washington restrictions are coming!

Bruce the muffler law didn't repeal the exit the hull law,it still applies. Its not FWC or the sheriff's that need to get on the same page so we can comply, the law is pretty clear. Automotive factory type muffler is the basic. They warned us when the law was passed, they wernt going to get hard on en...

Re: what is the highest rpm a stock 455 buick will handle?

A 650 is nowhere near enough carb for a buick 455. DD or gear box. I've ran a 500 a 650 a 750 and an 850 on a DD buick 455 and hands down the 750 worked best for the DD.

Re: what is the highest rpm a stock 455 buick will handle?

The 650 is to small. Yes the secondaries should be open. The 455 buick came factory with an 850 q jet. I had Damn good luck with the edelbrock 750 on my buick when it was DD.
Call whirl wind about your prop. They are real nice and no better person to ask the the ones who make it.

Re: what is the highest rpm a stock 455 buick will handle?

I dont know the stump puller but 2700 isnt choking a buick to much. I think you may be leaving a bit on the table with those 300 rpm but if it runs good leave it be. I've spent a pile of money on buicks trying to make them live long with a gear box and I needed another pile to make it happen. You ha...

Re: what is the highest rpm a stock 455 buick will handle?

Love them Ole buicks, sure miss mine sometimes. If it was put together right you should have no problem with 3-3300 in DD but no need to go past 3000 unless your racing. If you put a box on it you won't want to turn it past 4500 stock.

Re: What RPM will suck a oil pan dry? Stock vs. High Volume

I've never had one run dry nor do I know anyone that has that wasn't already low on oil. I can't imagine you having a problem when there are so many out there running a similar set up. Even if you up grade the pan and pump address the oil return ports and gallies. A Lil cleaning will get the oil bac...

Imo it's not a good option for DD. Now with a gear box there a contender. I run a 454 gear box boat.

Re: Chevy big block dd on a 13'6 hull ?

A vortex 350 with a good cam upgrade will by far out perform the BBC in a DD application. There's a reason you don't see many BBC DD boats, power to weight just isn't there in a DD application.

Because that motor was never intended to be used in an airboat or marine application.

Re: Do I need this hose on my cooling system

No you don't need it. I don't and wouldn't run it. When the thermostat opens it will allow some hot coolant back in the block. Most performance builders won't use them for that reason.

Re: Free Alumitech

Between the 2 motors stated, I'd go BBC and gear or belt drive. A car motor doesn't make good hp in the low rpm ranges, the reduction let's you use the hp/torque your motor can make at the rpm it makes it. It'll cost way way to much money to make a caddy live and be reliable with a reduction Vs a bbc...
