Re: GM explores new ECU
I saw that John Deer started doing that a few years back. I have faith that hackers will always outmaneuver governments and big business though or at least make separate standalone units in this case.

Re: Going to have new boat built soon
X2 on the LS3. Especially if you are going to run any saltwater. My family's 502 has some some nasty rust areas for staying out around steinhatchee and pretty much only running salt water when we do take it out.

Re: Anyone use a “marine” 350 for DD?
I believe I've heard that some marine engines spin counter clockwise. Maybe someone else can confirm.
It would be imperative to know the rotation when selecting a prop.

Google returned that the issue may be low fuel rail pressure (pump issue)?

Re: Noob engine choices, what makes a good motor
I had a 2002-4 6.0 LQ4 and it was a great air boat power plant! If I remember correctly: $1750 for complete engine and harness $175 for harness rework and fuse block $250 headers $200 for intake setup $75 for miscellaneous (delete emissions) Opted for a new starter for piece of mind and ran the Torq...

Re: 5250 vs 5,000
I personally think that it makes no sense for the average guy with a 2/1 or 2.37/1 to go over the 5,250 number. I was happy running my setup there and would sometimes choke it down to 4,900 if I was just going to be cruising for the weekend. Just change it up when you some time and see if it's worth...

Re: 350 sbc rebuild or build for more?
I'd say it's a good excuse as ever to go ahead and put some performance parts in your rebuild.
Just do what you feel comfortable with cash wise.
Little things like a cam swap and cylinder head work can make quite a difference for not a lot of coin.
It's all up to you.

Re: 4.3 DD Prop
Also, you may want to check and make sure that the engine is not a counter rotation setup. I've heard that it is sometimes found to be the case at least in dual engine boats where one engine spins clockwise and the other goes counterclockwise (not familiar with the particular one that was mentioned)...

Re: LS repower!! Need help
...I found a iron 6.0 cheap with low miles but it is a 2014 vct does that matter? From my research and personal experience, you do not want an engine that turns some of the cylinders off via VVT. I had a 5.3 in my GMC Envoy XL and it blew the top end and then the bottom end after the top was fixed....

I'd let her eat and find out how well she runs. 8) Shouldn't be any worse than the 350 DD. I would use the truck intake manifold. Might also make sense to do a cam change to get a little more torque below 3,000 RPMs. X2 They are good engines. I'm happy with my stock one but I've got a gearbox to su...

Probably not much difference in weight between the two so I'd say you are better off with the 350 since it will make more power than the 6 cylinder.

unless of course you went with an ecotec package which might come in around same weight as a 540 and possibly more thrust on pump gas. I may be mistaken but I believe there is a thread on here that documents an all Aluminum fully dressed LS weighing less than any fully dressed 6-Cyl AC engine. Howe...

I think it would be cool to see a DD LS on the Don Davis and fitting for an AC to be on the Thurman.
