Sure, a worn out engine with hardly any compression won't give up much of a fight but I think it would be worth it to have the actual #'s for each cylinder.

If the motor is shot it might give the buyer a good amount in leverage to go ahead an purchase at a steep discount.

Hernando would be an option too.

I bet that engine you are considering will fit the bill.

However, have you considered the throttle part of the equation?

It probably has a fly by wire as opposed to the fly by cable option you have on your boat now and I imagine would like to adapt to the new power plant.

I didn't go with the low mount and just modified the existing brackets and pulleys.

What kind of fuel pump are you running? Is it regulated and working properly?

Does any smoke come out of the pipes when it revs up then dies?

I figured the handling would be top notch based on the hull name.

In contrast - I cruised at a little over 25mph on a terrible cottonmouth hull powered by a 2 blade superwide, 2.68 box, and 300hp SBC. (3000 RPM)

How does the boat handle and what speed are you cruising at; does it spray evenly on the sides?

Perhaps fine adjustments to the angle of the motor could help.

I would definitely think your setup would cruise at your desired RPM no problem.
