Re: NEW Build LQ4 6.0L / 2.68 Box / 2 Blade SW

Tried doing the shakedown run back on Nov 14th but had a fuel pump issue (need a dedicated wire & switch for the fuel pump) also noticed that one of my header tubes wasn't colored so that means an injector is likely clogged, probably from sitting X-years, and the cylinder isn't firing but cleaning o...

Re: Can it be done?

Sure, a worn out engine with hardly any compression won't give up much of a fight but I think it would be worth it to have the actual #'s for each cylinder.

If the motor is shot it might give the buyer a good amount in leverage to go ahead an purchase at a steep discount.

Jeff, I'm glad to see that the season has been good to you! I'm down to meet up to ride orange soon and there is also a country concert out at the flying eagle off the withlacoochee December 6th that I plan to attend if I can get there without needing poly. I think Phil is going to try and make it t...

Re: NEW Build LQ4 6.0L / 2.68 Box / 2 Blade SW

Looks like I'm finally ready to hit the water this weekend 8) I've got about 2 hours testing in the driveway and am happy overall with the performance of the engine in regards to it running well even with 2 bad coils and throttle position sensor error which have since been replaced. All that's left ...

Re: Alpha Fab - 2.4L & 2.5L Ecotec Direct Injection

Ironically, The post above mine is reminiscent of a time when water thunder was doubted when he tried a new style engine in airboats. Just switch a couple words around and you can go back in time to when people were hating on him. Dyna and Alpha don't need luck just time for people to come out of th...

Re: Gauge or Sensor?

I've noticed a similar pattern with my LQ9 6.0 Iron block. The gauge plugged into the head reads a mere 160-170 (cold) but the OBD2 port scanner reads 200-210 (typical running temp for LS). I've heard aftermarket gauges will often read differently than factory OEM sensors. If you want to know what i...

Re: What makes a purpose built Airboat motor?

As usual - Deano put it quite well. Also, other people browsing this forum should know that there are plenty of "junkyard" LS style engines with gearboxes clocking over 100k miles on them ticking away with no major issues to speak of. If you don't spin the hell out of them and perform the maintenanc...

Re: Considering buy a aluminum engine

I bet that engine you are considering will fit the bill.

However, have you considered the throttle part of the equation?

It probably has a fly by wire as opposed to the fly by cable option you have on your boat now and I imagine would like to adapt to the new power plant.

What kind of fuel pump are you running? Is it regulated and working properly?

Does any smoke come out of the pipes when it revs up then dies?

Man, I would normally say run... However, about 5 years ago I was contacted by a potential buyer out of Miami thru eBay. I called him on the phone and he had a bone chilling foreign accent. Didn't bother haggling with me on price at all. I thought it was fishy so I asked if he knew anything about ai...

Re: Sbc 268 3 bld R

I figured the handling would be top notch based on the hull name.

In contrast - I cruised at a little over 25mph on a terrible cottonmouth hull powered by a 2 blade superwide, 2.68 box, and 300hp SBC. (3000 RPM)

Re: Sbc 268 3 bld R

How does the boat handle and what speed are you cruising at; does it spray evenly on the sides?

Perhaps fine adjustments to the angle of the motor could help.

I would definitely think your setup would cruise at your desired RPM no problem.
