Re: Griffin Radiator - Junk

Erik, that sucks that you put a considerable amount of effort into explaining to Griffin what you wanted and the final product didn't end up fitting the bill when it was all said and done. However, I put a low dollar griffin radiator on my first CM Boat and it did fine even though I thought it might...

Re: Rotator Gear Box Ratio Change?

I'm afraid of getting to that in-between area where I have too much for 2 blades but not enough for 3 then I have to do something with gear ratio. Dan Dan, that is exactly what I was thinking. Also, I switched to a 3 blade "non S" prop and really enjoyed better performance over-all even though I lo...

It looks like you are propped right but too heavy.

No prop can fix that.

There are a bunch of threads on here about this but I would just go with whatever combo your builder recommends assuming he is a well established boat builder.

Re: Ls1 questions

2.37-2.68 should work fine for the box and a 3 blade composite prop should push you and 3 other people anywhere you need to go.

Re: thinking of crossing over to dark side

My engine isn't junk by no means very fresh engine. Just don't know if that would have pushed my bigger hull with some authority or not. Currently run an older gore hull which I know is alto of my problem , which wont let me run any dry too well, Mike, keep your engine and go with an adjustable car...

Re: AC to car engine what am I doing?

Don't worry about going cheap with LS. Granted it's not a sure thing but plenty of people getting by just fine with their $2k junk yard engines including me. Parts are cheap and so is 87 octane. Met a guy a few weeks ago who showed me he had 600 hours on a 5.3 iron block. The thing came out of the t...

Re: AC to car engine what am I doing?

One thing to remember if for any reason the boat usually weigh more. I could pick up the front on my bud 520 ultralight and turn his boat around not anywhere close to doing that on any of my car motor boats. Ted, those who have followed your opinions on CM boats know that you have had an all around...

Re: Rudders Rattling

Kquick, my rudders do that too on my new build with new parts and it is definitely is annoying at idle and a little above that.

I think I may try the clear tubing as mentioned above.

The white bushings don't seem to help.

I was under the impression that a leak down test was more comprehensive for engine health compared to the compression test.

I have performed neither one on any of my engines but would like to hear what people with experience have to say about this topic as well.

Anyone running a stossel boat with a 4cyl on it? I have an O360 angle valve and curious how they would perform. How is it running in deep water and the hill? Thanks in advance. I don't own one but I've heard that a true stossel is one of the best, if not the best, hill and ground riding boats. Also...

Yes, on the Antiseize. Just a dab will do it for each one.

You should be able to get the correct stainless bolts and lock washers at a hardware store

Just make sure and get the correct thread size.

Re: Gear box or no need ?

any power and prop info would be greately appreciated What is your budget for a power plant? A good used gearbox will be about $2K and used prop will be about the same give or take a few hundred for both. Approaching the situation again, I believe I like the idea of a well built stroked 350 or 400 ...

Re: Gear box or no need ?

Run the 454 with a 2.37 ratio box and call a prop manufacturer such as whirlwind, sensenich, or water walker for prop education and recommendations. Probably going to want to run poly on the bottom of the boat if you are going to be 4x4'ing chasing pigs. I hope the hull has enough support to be dura...

I agree with Blu in regards to hull length. I personally would choose a 14ft x 7'-8ft' and keep it light.

HAHA! I was just thinking about the vibration the engine/prop send thru the hull at open throttle on my work today.
