Is one jack enough, jack?

I've got a slight plow and and I'm going to shim the gearbox up but also want to know if putting one jack in the boat will help with the ride characteristics. If so where would be good spot for it ? Front middle?

Re: My carmotor thinks its an aircraft motor..
I could not wait any longer. You are a rookie. The prop will suck bolts off the floor let a lone some oil. I have had both car motors and aircraft. I have to say the air craft has advantages you never have in a car motor.
Congratulations on waiting nearly a month to post how you feel...

Re: Length & Width of hull for a Big Block

well if your concerned about weight, the gearboxes are almost half the weight of a belt box but in the end as long as your conscious of what your doing you shouldn't have any issues with a hull 14' or larger.

Re: Length & Width of hull for a Big Block

I haven't run a BB but my SBC with gearbox is probably pretty close to some of the BB's weights. I run it on a 13ft hull and it works just fine. a 16ft hull will be safer as well but may not run ground that well. Are you going DD? any aluminum parts going in to the BB? I heard you can shed like 60lb...

My whirlwind 79" SW prop was rated at a max of 2250rpm. I would imagine yours would be similar.

It's $$$ lol. And I couldn't believe it when the description said it was only powered by a VW motor. I hope the owner will post videos of it so we can see how an 80G space machine performs :stirpot:

My sbc355 with 2.68box and 2blade super wide does very well on the ground with my 13.6 cottonmouth hull.

Re: has anyone tried a dauntless v6

Thank you still thinking hard on a 4.3 but will keep in mind 350. I seen pictures of it with a four cylinder aircraft and it seemed to sit low in the water. just a little worried about adding another 175 pounds or so to the back of the boat Don't be - nearly all sit rather low in deep water. Just b...

Re: Thinking about running a 406 SBC and I have a few questi

No replacement fo displacement. That 406 should make quite the hot rod if propped correctly and rigged reasonably. However, a drag cars engines needs might not suit an airboat well. you need something that will survive around 3k rpm (cruise) and 5-6k (WOT) rpms

Re: My carmotor thinks its an aircraft motor..

Junker, thanks for sharing that fix with me. I'm going to try the Lucas first and see how that goes and then move on to Hammers and yours suggestions if that doesn't improve things enough to my liking. As of now the oil loss is nothing tragic but just a lil ridiculous due to the mess and pollution i...

Re: My carmotor thinks its an aircraft motor..

Most people run a PCV valve out of valve cover to the back of carb. I run the same breather system I run on my sprintcar. Its called a cross over system. Google: Saldana racing products, go to products, sprintcars, valvecovers and you can see a pic of them. These are pricey, but once you get the id...

Boy O Boy, you are a rookie at this airboatin thing arent ya? First thing I learned bout airboatin was if you have a car motor, you can rag on another car motor guy. You rag on an aircraft guy, your a** is goin to catch some serious heat. They take this hobby serious. You'd almost be better off rag...

My carmotor thinks its an aircraft motor..

Hey guys, I've got some oil leaking out at higher rpm's and I was wondering if there was something else I could run in my sbc to keep it from seeping out. I started off with about 5qts of 5w30 and I'd say at least half a quart has worked its way thru the valve covers, thru the distributer base ring,...

I think if it were easy or even economical we would see more "one off" belt drives. But that's just not the case. I'm sure people have tried everything from a chain to 10 v-belts but they just don't seem to work like the established belt manufactures products...and even some of them have h...

Well a 220 CPU don't have that much horsepower mostly due to the fact that its a computer processing device.. But a GPU would be about 400 torques and a decent power plant.
