Re: how much for a belt drive for 4.3
There might be a few in the classifieds or you can give some of the belt manufactures a call and price out a new one. All the gearboxes mate up to standard chevy engines I believe..not so sure about the belt box but I would figure that they would fit a wide variety of engines as well.

I think mine is 15* and then 32* all in by 3k. There are a couple threads on here discussing it. Just google something like "chevy 350 timing southernairboat" and you should be able to find it.

Re: fuel efficient vs h.p.
If you have a decent HP to weight ratio you should have a pretty efficient set up, generally speaking. It's kinda like vehicles, smaller ones are more efficient than heavier rigs but with that said..while bigger engines eat more fuel; they don't necessarily have to work as hard as the smaller ones t...

I think its a great prop as long as you don't put it on an airboat
I almost went that route but decided to wait and save up for a more suitable composite prop.

Re: 350 vortex question.
I've got a 350 with a gearbox and a holley 600cfm on top of it and it has worked well for me. If your running direct drive you may be able to run a smaller carb like the 500 I assume.

Re: Iconic airboats won’t be part of Everglades culture for
Whitebear, great post! To add to it I believe people need to wake up and stop arguing about republican vs. democrat BS...both parties are paid by the same criminals (central banks) and they are one in the same. Politics is garbage and just another way that they are able to divide America as well as ...

I think I recall summit or jegs having the adapter you need. I purchased a connector thru summit. The local parts stores carry different diameter piping as well which might help you out too

[quote when I get the prop on and only have to spin it about 1300rpm to cruise. WHOOOOSSHHH Tell me how you figure 1300 rpm cruise. Thats almost idle for my boat. Also, you might consider a drain plug someplace below the muffler on each side. Bud[/quote] Bud, that was in regards to the prop rpm of ...

Only thing I see wrong with this is that you didn't fabricate the custom "Dutch oven" for cooking-while cruising :fishing ... Seriously though you could get away with a beast of a cooking machine and be the hit of the party when you show up with some steaming tamales :cherry: Do what work...

Re: I got my exhaust done this weekend. Check it out!
It's not a woods running, ground pounding set-up. But, I bet with the longer tail pipes, it's real quiet and Quiet is Way Cool!! Looks a lot like a pulling truck exhaust system. Quiet is very cool to me. I figured putting the bigger square mufflers on top of the headers along with the smaller diame...

Re: I got my exhaust done this weekend. Check it out!
The originality of features on a home-built airboat gives it certain personal characteristics that set it apart from others. Whether it's a custom throttle pedal, stick grip, LED lights...or up-stack car engine. Good job on the build. Take it out and let us know how it runs. Thanks Glades! An...

Re: I got my exhaust done this weekend. Check it out!
A set of airboat headers probably would have solved the whole problem. No doubt :thumbleft: From my angle, the exhaust pipe looks pretty horzontal coming at right angle off the upper end of the mufflers, be sure there is a little down and out slope to it that you don't get rain water blown down the...

probably singe the back of your head on a hot summer day idling around. Swamper, my head actually isn't the size of a hot air balloon so I got plenty of room to sit comfortably with out worrying bout that 8) and if my head/body does make contact with the exhaust while riding I would go as...

Re: I got my exhaust done this weekend. Check it out!
If that is what you want. I would not go for it on my boat for many reasons. Weight and vibration may be your problem in the future. It has happened to me and I've seen it happen to others that the muffler rots out from the inside and drops off, I carry several coat hangers just for that for temp f...
