Re: Breaking in SBC 350 engine with just gearbox?

James, I'm not quite sure about the cam at the moment. It's a rebuilt Chevy 350 budget engine; pretty much stock internals except flat top pistons. The builder put a "mild cam" in it and it has stock head assemblies. Probably has about 325horses tops.

Breaking in SBC 350 engine with just gearbox?

Is it OK to break in my new rebuilt engine on my rigging with just the motor hooked up to my rotator 2.68 gearbox behind it? Do I need a prop or some load to protect it?

Re: scalloping

I agree with olf art. That area has been good to me over the years and most of the time my group has had the area to ourselves. Def not as crowded as south of dead mans bay. Im heading out there the wknd of the 15th.

Re: Fiberglass Hulls

There is a company in the hull classifieds section named "marsh magic marine" and I think they re did the hull I have before I bought it from a gentleman in bartow. They might have hulls for sale as well. I haven't dealt with them directly but it may be worth you looking in to. My 1992 cotton mouth ...

Re: airboaters around jax, fl

Mike every hull starts lookin' bad when all the pretty stuff wears off right?! lol. Heck I should have kept that pic of my hull before it was redone down in Bartow; It was a blue sheet box from 1992 beat black and blue. Now its a clean, green and mean lil river snake. Thanks for the compliments yall.

Re: airboaters around jax, fl

Yeah basically I just got done paying H&M engines in downtown jax yesterday for building my new 350 long block that I will pick up next week when I return from Ocala. I think it will be around 350hp and 400tq. I need to get that engine on my rigging, bolt on my engine accessories, bolt on my Rotator...

Re: airboaters around jax, fl

I live in Jacksonville as well and am currently building my rig which should hopefully be done in a few months :bounce: There's plenty of water and possible ride routes up here I'm sure, but from what I've seen the past few years.. Airboats are a rare sight unfortunately. I plan to put in at maxwell...

Re: 220 question ?

When I had a 220 I ran both fuels and mine personally liked the AVGAS better. With 93 it would diesel, run hotter, and act up. It was baffling to me that an old generator would be picky about what it ate but for some reason those aircraft style engines require higher octane to run reliably and effic...

Re: 1965 389 cubic inch pontiac

I don't know much about this engine model but I believe that there are more proven power combos available and in use. However, having something different (that works well and that you already have) can be a special thing and if it's built right, has good part replacement options, and can operate rel...

Re: 20X8 motor suggestions

Big block for sure. That 454 could be a great starting platform if you stuff some goodies in it to make 550+ pony's. Its all about the $$$. I think a lot of people are happy with the 502's as well.
