Re: 10:1 compression on stock starter?

What should I be looking for? High amps or low amps and which will tell me what? I've got a field piece multimeter but I've never measured amps on DC current, just AC current with the clamp. The only setting I see on it is measured in mA. Will that measure high enough for the cranking amps? I'm assu...

10:1 compression on stock starter?

I just got the chance to fire my boat up for the first time since the rebuild. On one battery, the starter barely turned it before stopping. So I hooked a second battery to the first, in parallel. This second battery was out of my truck, so I know it was good. It still didn't have enough to turn it ...

Re: No prop on gearbox

Thanks for the advise guys. I forgot about no airflow over the radiator... I have a prop but the cage isn't done yet and I'm not sure if I want to run the prop without a cage. Lol

No prop on gearbox

I'm just wanting to check with yall before I potentially make a mistake or not. My motor has been rebuilt and hasn't even been started yet. So I need to start it up to follow break-in procedure but I need to know if it's ok to run a motor and gearbox with out the prop on the gearbox..?

I would say traffic accident lawyer. There are plenty that work to get you money in an accident but I'm looking for one that handles the other side of that fence..

Lawyers??

This may be a long shot, but do we have any fellow airboaters that's a lawyer? I would appreciate any guidance as to which direction I should take or maybe even a referral to someone local to my area. Thanks.

Re: new hunting rules upper stjohns

It use to be about 5-6 days of doe week in Seminole county during thanksgiving week. Looks like they changed it to about 4 days and ONLY on private property, not public land. Gonna be a crappy year for hunting.. Unfortunately, all I got to hunt is public land and with out doe days, I wouldn't get ha...

Yes, something almost in the middle. I was thinking lake Kissimmee but don't know where to launch or maybe there's somewhere around that area that easier access..? I'll look up the one mentioned already.

Need a boat ramp to test drive at.. Don't know area.

Going with a buddy to pick up a boat for him. We're in Orlando and the boat is in Clewiston/south okechobee. Where is an airboat friendly boat ramp somewhere in the middle where we can test drive??

Re: seating arrangement opinions/help

I'm setting mine up the same way, two singles in the back with the stick in the middle and driver on the right to counter act the torque roll when I'm by myself. But my hull is also only 12x7... I like the idea because if I have to get down and grab something off the bottom of the boat, the passenge...

Re: Engine build and cam help

Well I dropped everything off at the machine shop.. The machinist said I'll be at around 9.5-9.8:1 compression and probably around 370hp. Anybody have a good recommendation for a cam grind?

Re: Engine build and cam help

Wow 10.5:1? When I use compression calculators I get 9.5:1 and summit says their Pistons with 64cc heads will have a 9.3:1 compression. I hope it's not in the 10's, I kinda want it to stay a pump gas motor..

Engine build and cam help

I'm in the process of rebuilding my stock 350 to get the most out of it and to work good with a 2:1 gearbox. The block has never been bored. I just tore it down this evening and it'll probably need to be bored a little. I'll have to see if the machine shop recommends turning the crank or not. I also...

Re: Bit the Bullet and got my first Boat.

I keep the bow strap hooked to the nose of the boat. I may add a little slack to it.. I then back down until the back of the boat just barely starts to float. At this point, for me, I unhook it and push it down the trailer while walking the running boards on the trailer. Then jump in and start it up...

Re: Motor stand build plans?

I usually use 1" square tuning with a wall thickness close to 1/8" or somewhere around 10ga. I've never had it on something with 400-450 hp though but I've also never had a weld break, so I'm sure if it's braced up good it should hold fine. I would post pics of the engine stand I just got done build...

Need help with prop measurements and transom spacing

I have the engine stand built for my new build. It's a 350 with a 2 to 1 precision gearbox. I'm trying to decide how far forward I need to move the engine stand to fit a prop (I don't have a prop at this moment). At 78", the prop will be about 6" below transom. I need to know hub thickness and how f...

You are correct Lwells. As stated in my post it was all open carry. But when my license comes in, then I won't have to deal with the open carry and just conceal carry.

Re: have u ever exercised your open carry rights

I've wondered this as well.. I've open carried at the ramp in front of a sheriff and he didn't say anything. I've also had to go inside the gas station once or twice in the early morning on my way to go hunting, without anything said. It's been about a month and a half, and I'm still waiting on my c...

Re: Engine stand help..

At first I was thinking of cutting the engine stand at the bottom of the legs and trying to bend it in shape.. I can't just cut the engine stand out and rotate because all the legs are built to the edge of the angle iron. Deano i think cutting the motor mounts on the stand would be the easiest now t...
