Re: 350 DD cooling issues

Ok took the boat to spring fling to try it out. It took longer to reach 200* but thats running a lil hard, but if I idle or cruise for a lil while, the temp will drop down to about 170* or so. I guess that will work, that's not too bad.

Re: 350 DD cooling issues

The setup Im running is exactly like Mojoe's. As far as the coolant being low, I think it's from a slow leak out of the overflow port on the radiator, that's mounted down low. Im not running a thermostat as of now. I just took a thermostat and knocked the core out so it acts like a restrictor plate,...

350 DD cooling issues

I have a chevy 350 DD that runs about 200*F. Is that normal or a little hot? Im worried that I may have an air pocket in the motor... I have an in-line adapter in the upper hose about 6in away from the thermostat housing. The coolant is always low, and today I took the cap off the radiator (mounted ...

Re: RPM problems on 350 DD

Edelbrock performer aluminum intake. I got the boat to spin about 2500-2700 rpm's. I think the rest is a prop issue....

Re: RPM problems on 350 DD

Thanx for all the advice!! When I rebuilt it I put in new spark plugs, but used the old accel 8mm wires(yellow ones). I pulled the plugs and it looks like #1 is misfiring, so I'll replace the wires. Will one cylinder misfiring cause it to not get the rpm's Im looking for? Watersports7 says he uses a...

RPM problems on 350 DD

I just finished building my boat. It's a 12ft gillieo w/ a 350 DD. The motor has been rebuilt. It's stock accept for the RV cam (1000-3200 rpm), Alum. intake, Accell HEI dist., and an edelbrock 600cfm carb. Other than that it just has new bearings and rings. The timing is at 12 deg adv at idle and a...

Re: Questions about a prop!

That's the setup I'm looking for. As far as the prop goes Im thinking a 70"-72" with a medium pitch, any where between 30-36 should work. Does that sound about right? I heard there's a calculation you can do to figure that out. It has to do with motor size, boat size, etc. you run it through this ma...

Re: Questions about a prop!

From the inside of the transom to the farthest part of the bow is 11'6". From the outside of the transom to the bow is 12'. The width in the middle is like 6'8" I believe and the width at the back is 7'1"-7'2". I didn't measure the walls yet but I'm gonna say around 2'.

Re: Questions about a prop!

Ok thanx. I keep hearing mixed opinions about putting a 350 on this boat. About 90% say I should. The other 10% say it's just more weight and not much more horse power. I personally think a 4.3L just won't be enough H.P.? It's 12' and about 7' wide, that should support a 350 ok. What do y'all think?

Questions about a prop!

I'm not sure what kind of prop this is. It's fiberglass and about 66". A friend of mine said it was an IVO or IZO prop or something like that. I don't know how to find out the pitch on it. I need to know how good this prop will work on a 12' boat with a 350 small block. Or should I get rid of it and...

Re: Anyone one interested in trading trailers?

That's pretty nice! I can tell already I wouldn't have the money for it.LOL. I guess I'll worry bout getting the boat goin before I get too worried about the trailer. At least I got one and that's what matters. I posted another thread askin bout motors, but I'll ask it here too: I have a 11'6"-12' b...

Re: Marine motor vs. auto motor?

K thanx. I'm thinking about just putting a 350 in it. I can get one that I know runs instead of spending money on this one when I don't know what kinda shape it's in. How do you think a 350 will do in my boat that's about 11'6"-12'? I'm thinking about getting a wooden prop. What length and pitch wou...

Marine motor vs. auto motor?

OK.... Sorry bout all the questions. This airboat I ended up buying is about 11'-12'. It has a 4.3 liter V6 on it. The problem is that it is a marine motor! I need a distributor (with shaft) for it and don't know what type to use or if it will even work. Do I use a points distributor, vacuum advance...

Re: Anyone one interested in trading trailers?

Yea this ones built out of 4" square tubing. It fits the width fine but its about 20-25' long. It would take alot of fabricating to make it light.

Anyone one interested in trading trailers?

So I went and bought this airboat last night for $900. It's in great shape! It's 11'2" fiberglass, with riging and cage, 3 blade carbon fiber prop and a 4.3L V-6. It wont take much to get it goin'. Just a distributor, headers, fuel tank, maybe a starter, and prop adapter. The problem is this trailer...

Re: Need advice with an airboat I'm goin to buy.

I have a buddy that has a 10'6" boat with a 5 blade warp drive prop. It has a 120h.p. aircraft motor. The boat's a three seater and he does great. It's a fast little boat that will run dry land all day. If this one's about the same size but with a little bit bigger motor with out a gear reduction an...

The middle man that's helping me buy it said its not 9' it's at least a 10'. How wide should the boat be? How hard would it be to resale?

Need advice with an airboat I'm goin to buy.

I'm new here and have never been on this site before. I have a Question for y'all that I hope can be answered before tomorrow. Tomorrow night I'm going to look at an airboat to buy. It's not really up for sale but the guy will get rid of it to me for $1,000. It's supposedly a 9' but I doubt it and h...
