The new ZZ5 is a simple SBC crate engine in my opinion.

Re: Gearboxes?????

I cant comment on anyone's gear box except a STINGER -mine is 14 years old and I flog the snot out of it! I aint killed it yet and its never been rebuilt. I have replaced the soft drive bushings and I drain / fill the box each year. It's a early box so it does make a bunch of gear whine but I like i...

Re: Maximus prop

As long as that engine can take RPM it should push like a bulldozer and be a real hot rod. I'm running the 78" version on a 450HP SBC.

Why not that's a stock head/valve design, I'm not looking at a drag engine here just a good runner.

Selecting the right camshaft for a SBC 383 stroker?

Need some help on selecting a camshaft for a interesting build. It's an oddball stroker engine that will be a spare for my airboat. The boat-15x8 Air Ranger , 2.88 Stinger gear drive, 78"WW Super Wide 3 blade that needs to turn 2150-2200. The engine regularly sees 6000-6200 RPM all day long. The boa...

Re: 1968 327 chevy

Bullfroggy is right on the money- heck if its buildable do it! Folks want 5K-15K for engines nowadays, spending a grand on parts and machine work you could have a 400-425 HP stroker SBC on the cheap.

Re: I need help, silver dollar, redneck, southern style, or

I'm all about competition but sometimes a small builder gets overwhelmed and stuff happens. I'd bet its less than 10% of all air boat business but it sure sucks when you are buying that 10%. This is why I'd rather IMHO overpay at a well respected major manufacturer than go to the small business. thi...

Re: Seat belts on airboats... Why not??

Bigkaver - We almost had a air boat ban down here in Texas because the Brazos River Authority folks were getting hurt trying to get water samples in our shallow river. Few injuries and a bunch of broken air boats. I'd love to take a air boat safety driving course one day or SAR etc.I'm sure there ar...

Re: Seat belts on airboats... Why not??

Well folks I respectfully disagree . We have ran seat belts in air boats for over 20 years with out a mishap. I run them on my boat front and back seats , single button push release lap belts . The one time I was thrown from the boat I was not wearing it and I regretted it. I know most folks will di...

Re: New 14X8 383 SBC Diamondback Boat line for $37,000

I sure wish the manufactures would bring some competition to Texas, we get that much for a used air boat down here. Don't get me wrong, I love American Air boats but they are out of reach for most of us common folks now. Floral City has been selling a few boats down here, Panther is still a big boat...

Goodbye to a Texas Airboater

Farewell Don, RIP Don Shirley. Sad news for Texas Air boaters. This Texas air boater was instrumental in fighting a Air boat ban on the Brazos river. He had been fighting cancer. http://www.weatherforddemocrat.com/obituaries/donald-ray-duck-shirley/article_f613f1b4-b0a9-11e4-80fb-dffefde92121.html A...

One of our members in Texas uses both. He routed out 2" strips the full length of the boat in new poly and his hardware/bolts are recessed in the stainless strips and poly. Cool set up.

Prayers from The BRAB in Texas! We are quite removed from you folks distance wise but I believe Vickie was the one from the FAA that kept us Texas Airboaters up to snuff on things FAA related?
Sad deal , does anyone know how this happened? High water and a low bridge?

Re: Two dollar part kills another airboat engine

Murphy Switches will stop that kinda failure. They only interrupt the ignition and have a override button to push in and regain full ignition. The thing is once a drop in OP or Temp occurs you know it and you can deal with it then. If you loose OP or over TEMP with out a Murphy switch and lock down ...

Re: First airboat purchase. What do I need?

Gonna be tough in Texas to find that boat for 10K,15k yeah but 10K........gonna be rough and need work. If you can find a 8x15 aluminum hull,cage,rigging,etc... and are willing to replace a bad engine that would a be a deal I'd look for. Tye up with those coastal air boats guys and pay for the gas ,...

Boy that's a purdy boat. You guys just keep getting better and hopefully making the competition come down on pricing too in Texas.
Competition is always good for the market. I've had the pleasure of riding with and driving your boats in Texas, I got no complaints.
