Re: an old wooden oar

He asked if I had oars in the boat and I said sure, but I would stop at the local topless bar and pick a couple up for the ride.
So the paddle is for the "oars"!

an old wooden oar

I have been noticing a lot of old wooden oars bungeed on air boats. Never aluminum or plastic. Also, it seems that a pushpole would be better suited to moving an airboat in the stuff airboats usually run in if it broke down. Am I missing something?

A spotlight and a rifle work. A feeder and a box of slugs work too.

Re: looking to get into an airboat

First ask why you want an airboat over a 4-wheeler. Next, look at comps and assess the value of both to decide if it is a good trade. The classifieds on here will give you an idea of what a DD glass sells for. If the values are within a few hundred dollars its worth the trade to avoid hassle. There ...

Does anybody know what the native indians used to call the St. Johns River? (no joke, I would just like to know)

Re: Snook News?

It just don't make sence. The snook populations are (not were) very healthy. As healthy as they can be with the loss of habitat and poor water quality. Mabye closing the season during the spawn combined with a slot limit works on male to female hermaphroditic species. But it ain't gonna put anti-fre...

said it was night and day differents on the hill You hit it on the money. Its a matter of what is best for what use. There is no correct answer every time. Snook News?

There was a nasty rumor going around at the marina in Grant. Heard snook season was going to be indefinately postponed untill the populations rebound from the freeze. Does anybody know if there is any truth to that?

Re: Tresspasser`s on our lease.

Hunt Them. I didn't say shoot them (thats up to you), treat them like you would anything else you would hunt. If nothing else, you now have big game hunting to get you through the summer. I am assuming you can't get there quickly. If you get the real time cams, set the A-Holes up. Give them a target...

Re: Help with polymer on a glass boat

I runa a glass hull with polymer and it works great... ...Here on the St. Johns. except when running across roads, stumps and rocks. There is a lot of that kind of stuff here. Even where I launch looks like a mix of asplalt and grass. I have never run an airboat in Broward county, but what I have se...

Re: venison marinades

Cheap Italian Dressing/Vinagrette, marinade for a few hours, then wrap in bacon(use toothpics to make it stick) and grill. Flip often and baste every time you flip to keep the bacon from burning. Only tried with straps and loins, its AMASING! Serve from med to your preference.

Re: another noobie ? props

To make a reasonable guess, someone would need more info. Best thing is probably to put your old prop back on the new motor and use how it performs as a benchmark. If its a big upgrade, make sure not to run your woodie over 3 grand.

Re: Red fishing

I sure haven't been redfishing in a few weeks. But I know this will help. Redfish are like saltwater hogs. Don't worry about where they are, worry about where their food is. Locate what they are eating. If the bait is in your hole, so will the reds. If not, find it and they will be there. Then feed ...

I have never dealt with powdercoat, but I do work in a paint store. Our "golden rule" is clean dull and dry. A light sand to dull the sheen, treat any rust spots with some wire brushing and a rust converting acid, a solvent wipe (denatured alcohol or something compatible with your topcoat that doesn...

Re: Prop Pitch

Sounds like you need a prop/reduction set up to better fit the powerband of your motor. If you are gonna put some money into it, that is probably where it should go. Just seems wrong to have a strong built motor and set it aside for a "junk yard motor".

Re: The safest way to tow another boat with a airboat

I have never tried it, nor have I seen it done... ...but I keep 3 pieces of pvc in the boat. My direct drive slides easily on them when it otherwise wouldn't. And I have always thought that a wishbone made out of them would be a good way to tow. One rope tied to the left side or the rigging and run ...
