Re: Poly Replacement
That's funny. I've got a wedding at 1:00 tomorrow. Asked the groom if I could skip this one and make the next.
Ran from Buster Chattum Rd. (close to Lake Shore Dr.) to the dam and back this afternoon. Guessing it was around 70mi round trip. Little windy but nice to be back on the water.

We were running 40mph across Aransas Bay a while back and couldn't come close to catching "Day Money" in the ICW.

Re: Poly Replacement
Hardest part is finding the time. Like I mentioned, had to walk away a few times and come back with a fresh outlook. Probably be out burning some "premium" tomorrow evening below Whitney. Plan on launching close to Waco and running to the Dam and back if anyone's interested in drinking a f...

Re: Poly Replacement
Well.... Finally got the tub back together again. Had a little help installing the poly in the heat and ran it over to the boat ramp for a leak test. Had a couple of set backs with old poly rivets leaking but managed to get it straightened out. Had to walk away from it a few times in frustration but...

Run the highest # cap you can find. Won't make it run any cooler but will help keep the cap from blowing. A 13# cap is rated up to 250deg I think.

Re: Putting duck blinds out in the coast.. i have questions
Yes they are public property BUT..........common courtesy applies in most places. It's always been my understanding you just wait a little longer to set-up if you hunt somone elses blind. Wasn't that many years ago that blinds were burned to the ground (only takes a duralog) and tires slashed at the...

Northstar AGM (absorbent glass matt) class 27. Not totally necessary if only using it for starting purposes.

Re: Coastal Guys
We carry all the coast guard required items you would normally carry on a lake or river. Life jackets, throwable cushion, whistle/horn, fire extinguisher, and registration card. If your running in shallow back lake areas, you'll most likely never get stopped. If your in the ICW around Port A, chance...

Dude!
It's a hundred and 108 every day and your thinking about hunting. You've got it bad. Got to admit though, I'm looking forward to duck season and scared my two mutts have been soaking up too much A/C.

Re: Poly Replacement
Thanks RE the tubing answer... would think that it might be stiffer than a T bar when you think about it so was just curious. Kinda funny that youd' think a T bar has a bit less metal and easier to fabricate, but put the word airboat on it.... it triples in price.... I can hear it now... No this sp...

That sucks.
I have a friend staying at the house and didn't even know there was a storm coming.
Thanks again for the advise. Would have been nice to see your hull before I started.

Re: Poly Replacement
My older hulls are '78 and '79.I ran the extra stringers full length on those. The newer ones i've run to the front/second cross rib. When they don't go under the cross rib they can "hump" up with the hull. The aluminum a little "memory" even when you beat it back down. It's def...

Re: Poly Replacement
Do/can your new ribs run to or past a cross brace? Can't tell from the pics if the cross braces are where they sleep or if one is just moved forward while you work. The new tubing runs short of the mid-ship brace. I did contemplate having it run under and attaching, but they are 1/2" shorter t...

Re: Poly Replacement
Looking good there ! Whats a porta power? And why tubing instead of T bars? A porta-power is basically a sophisticated bottle jack. Has a hand pump and reservoir similar to a grease gun thats attached to the jack by a 5' hose. They come in a veriaty of sizes (3ton, 6ton, 10ton) used mainly for auto...

Poly Replacement
Since its only been 104 everyday since May, I thought I'd go ahead and replace the old white poly under the boat. :violent1: Lost a small area of poly while white bass fishing this spring and was tired of the bad handling characteristic due to a hook at the transom. Thanks to advice from Eugene and ...

Re: electric fuel pump issues
I burned through several pumps before making the following changes.
1. Fuel pump needs to be below tank or at lowest point to help pull or syphon fuel.
2. Run 1/2" fuel line to pump.
3. Use dedicated relay (low amperage from ignition switch).
4. Regulator bypass line.

Re: Request For Duck Hunting & Airboat Video Footage
I've taken a video camera on many trips with the intent of filming the hunt. Really hard staying with that plan when the birds start decoying. I've posted it before, but here ya go. My first attempt with Microsoft Movie Maker.

Nationwide is a huge manufacturer south of Dallas. They were very helpful when I needed a couple of sheets. They offer different colors and whatever size you may need. I went with the repro black. http://www.nationwideplastics.net/ There's a supplier in Shiner also I've heard a lot of people buy from.
