Re: Fuel injection for 496

Swamp Look at the FItech they have some interesting stuff that might fit your needs.

I am sure in total the EFI system is expensive, Holley HP is around 1750.00 just to get started and if you need customer service your really in trouble.

Re: Motor Advise for first build

You can get a 5.3 iron block motor for 750-1200 and it will be around 480lbs. Average Gen 1 SBC 350 has less hp/torque than a 5.3 (325ci) and weight about 100lbs lighter. http://www.car-parts.com is a good search engine but you need to know the model and year of the vehicle you want the motor out of...

Re: Strickly Redfish Boat

Streamline is Doug Hamant, he is building hulls up our way. He does great work. I saw one of his hulls at buddies place Circle S manufacturing and was impress with the work, but who knows one got one eye and don't see well with it, lol. If your looking for a new hull it would be worth talking to him...

Not sure what they use but what about a One way flapper plug. we used to use them in our race boats.
Sometimes referred to as a duck-bill plug. Moeller 61550

Just a thought.

Re: Strickly Redfish Boat

I am with Barhopper I will never have a saltwater boat without poly and been down the fiberglass route. Got a buddy C1gator his like his fiberglass and he works it hard. To me if you build a glass boat to handle the rock and bars it is just to heavy. If I was going to use glass for saltwater it woul...

Re: Strickly Redfish Boat

We run and fish from Yankee town to north of cedar key. Most of the area is very rocky. I run a 14' x 7-6 alumitec with 18" sides 5.3 with a 2.68 stinger and 79" 3 bld R. Been fish with it for 9 years. Had a 15' rivermaster for 4 years but beat it to pieces. Started with a DD caddy on the ...

Swamp I got rid of all my caddy parts but have restocked with LS parts Got a ton of stock parts that have come from upgraded ls motor ove the last few years for friend. Found 1 472 crank in my shed but the thrust face was gone. Had 4 complete motor for a while 2 472's and 2 500's and an extra crank ...

Re: Reduction unit

Yep had a Direct drive .020 472 on a 14' alumitec and SS rigging, ran it hard for almost 10 years. Went almost everywhere I wanted to go. Parts in good shape got difficult to find and expensive. And it will feel heavy and sluggish in the rear of the boat unlike and aircaft motor which will have a sp...

I may have missed it above But: DD = Left-handed rotation Belt drive = left-hand rotation Gear drive = right-hand So what rotation is your super snapper? Also someone above mention they ran a 72x38 wood prop on a 350 dd he did not say but it was probably a stick prop (narrow blade) I ran a 72 x38 on...

We fished Sat and Sun up north. Went up close to cedar key and found very clear water. Did very well couple of small snook, one 21" flounder, a bunch of trout from very small to 20" and a good number of mid slot reds 20-25". Sun we went north and a buddy went south we caught fish hard...

Re: Rigging, how far forward can I go?

It it were me I would not move it any farther forward. I would just add a platform for there feet flush with the deck, it will give you usable space. And if I need the weight farther forward I would look into moving my tank. As SH45 said adding a longer adapter may add a little push but it will also...

Diggin can you use something like HP tuners to modify MEFI setup you have that software with credits is around 600.00? CMB, we did not use the Fuel pump power supply (green wire) either. We tried it but it was making fuel pressure fluctuate, I believe ECU has to read fuel pressure for it to work pro...

Re: New to Airboats need some advice

A/C similar to a VW motor with the exception of the accessory case. Shouldn't be scared or it and if built correctly will run along time. We run the same area mostly waccassasa area cedar key to lowes bay and yes the black mud is slick most of the time but with a little sand or if the black dries ou...

Re: Holley Dominator Questions

When we used the terminator system on a buddies boat we had to add the senders and hook up oil, Water temp (classic gauges makes a 12mm coolant sensor that will screw in the back of the passenger side head) .

No wires off the ECM provided for these gauges.

There are a few more difference than just the transmission Holley has a small summary than list all the differences. Mostly things the average guy would not need though. For those who want to run a stock truck motor Terminator has the correct injector connector while the HP has LS1 style EV6 connect...

Re: Turbo LS vs 496

If i was going LS forced induction I would look into the superchaged LS over a turbo personally, they run well and has a nice torque curve. They also seem to hold up well even with a stock bottom end. Also an aluminum LS is much lighter than any BBC even with aluminum heads 150 lbs or better. But al...
