Re: Worth the trouble

For tuning if you have bung holes in your headers an AFR meter is around 200-250.00. As far as tuning it will let you dial in the motor where you want it. If you're into getting ever little bit you can out of the motor it is a great tool, no more guess work or peoples opinion as to motor being rich ...

Re: Building first engine stand

If you end up using any conduit make sure the area in well ventilated.

Also if you are using mild steel check the price of Stainless 304 mill finish is not very much more will last a lot longer.

I use the same as John 1" Sq x.065"

Re: Engine suggestions

Big inch motor maybe the ticket but I would look at the hull design. If your not going the run a lot of nasty dry, I would make the hull a little wider. One the guides from gulf hammock has an 8'-6" wide deckover and I was surprised how much stable the 6" made the hull. It will also get on...

We fished sat morning very windy but we found a few caught our 3 22, 23 and 24 had one nice 30" fish. We were up in the creeks when the water finally got low enough things got good. Tide was still going out at 2:00pm weird day. A big group fished friday some went north and some south, I heard t...

Yep I run a 14' Alumitec had a stock carbed 5.3 for a few years. Ran it with a 2:1 gearbox and a 80" 2 bld R. LS mat ran a 2:1 beltbox with a 76" 3 bld R. I ran several blade combinations but 2 bld R worked best. Would have liked to try a short 3 bld R as matts boat ran very well. BTW that...

Re: Back up fuel pump save

I carry about 12' of 3/8" hose and an outboard sqeeze-ball. It is enough that I can sit in my seat, pump the bulb and drive. I had carried it for so long the buld was hard. I thought I might take it out, instead just bought another one. A month later had a buddy out fishing lose his pump, set-u...

Fished Sat evening a lot of bait action, beatiful evening but was hard to hook-up. Sunday morning was slow till the water was low. Caught 5 between 24" and 32" within an hour out of a few sandy holes.

Re: Worth the trouble

I just fisnshed a 6.0 with less HP than that and it will take me and 2 others and all our fishing/camping gear just about anywhere. My boat is 14x7-6 alumitec with poly. Main difference is I run a 2.68 and a 79" 3 bld R. It is pitch at about 2.5 based on the marks. I ran a 2:1 for several years...

Re: LS fuel injection, Fitech Ultimate LS system

Well a guy that doesn't spend much time on here (2wheeler) bought that system for an 09 6.0. Install it and it ran but not the best (he was one of there many test subjects) It took them 6 month to work out the issues. He finally got it running they way he wanted. They offer that system with a short ...

Re: Redfish Reports

We fished the last weekend and in September did very well alot of overslot fish. Struggled to get a few in the slot. Most of what we caught was at the late turn of high tide. We ventured in the back of a creek that at low water has about a 10x20' hole. My buddy said there was no water there. I said ...

Re: Reduction Gearbox

Deano I just looked at some notes I had and you are correct it need an adapter plate to work with a caddy. But because of the length of the splined input shaft and the softdrive plate slides on the spline the is no spacer required for flexplate. I found 3 different companies th t made adapters plate...

I ran one for about 3 years was used when I got it. Had been through 3 differnt friends after being purchased used form Airboat pro's. Anything used scares me any more. I am certainely more of an alumninum hull fan, but for fiberglass hulls. Ricochet, Paul Jackson ( Paul builds a very nice rigging as well), Jimmey White, Marty Bray (Can get a matching rake). Maybe Big Casino will chime in, he has I thinks 14' Marty Bray with a matc...

I just budget built a 6.0 that is around that HP, I bought used and redid top end. I have a 2.68 with a 79" 3 bld R it is on a 14' Alumitec runs fairly well. It is certainly not purpose built, might blow-up tomorrow. Had a stock 5.3 that had 113K before it was on 2 different boats over 300hrs o...

Re: AIRGATOR, LS2 6.0, SENSINICH R SERIES, ROTATOR 2.38, NEED ADVICE

I run a 14' alumitec/airgator. Just put a 6.0 (maybe 400hp) on it and I run a 79" 3 bld R with a 2.68 stinger. Runs good way better than my stock 5.3.It is carburated for now FI after fishing season Yes you need the adapter or a dished flexplate. JW Wheel and TCI make several differnt options.

Re: Caddy 500 intake - Stock vs Edelbrock?

The 2 Edelbrocks I had both required a little clean-up to mount correctly. I would have the exhaust crossovers welded and the plenum welded -up. Then have it surfaced. I also made a sheetmetal gasket for the exhaust crossover port to go on the head side of main exhuast gasket. Helped keep less expen...

A buddy had a Lacey Everet built 0470-13 with 520 cylinders, lycoming rods and a few other changes, thing was an animal but was not really for cruising.

I believe that motor came out of a military observation plane Cessna Bird-dog ??
