They are pretty much all the same, chrome lined barrel and the rest is just your preference, get one before January looks like a must, oh and make sure it is chambered 5.56 then you can safely shoot both 5.56 and .223.

Tony-
If you can get a COLT at a decent $$$ get the Colt - Otherwise Rock River ---
RR is what I carry on duty - never had any issues at all - buy basic and build to suit yourself..
Brownells has good catalog - I prefer MagPul accessories myself

HO from someone that deals with slinging one almost everyday in SoFla :thumbleft:

AR-15?

Postby Comanche-pup » Wed Dec 19, 2012 8:07 pm

They will get slim from the fanatics, but the press conference today does make me a little anxious. I don't think they will take all guns but the statement of combat weapons was used and that covers a lot of firearms including some hunting models. Well see?

Colt's are good. There are many others that are as good or better. I have the Rock River and love it. There standard AR comes with upgrades that you will pay extra for on most othe standard AR's. There stage 2 trigger, heavy barrel, better grip and selector are standard and don't come on the Colt. Spikes Tactical is another well made AR but I hear they stay back ordered. Either way you won't be unhappy with any of the major AR manufacturers.

CORE15! I shopped for a long time and the core 15 is far superior to anything I found. I also bought an Armalite AR 10.. true there is more power and longer range but the cost per round is at least double. right now you better grab what you can. I also recommend a heavy stainless barrel if you have a choice.

They look cool!! But save your money and buy you a 12ga shotgun 3"mag with 181/2' barrel and 2 boxes 00bs and then you will be more bad azz.

Boys, don't forget the Core 15 that's made entirely in the annex behind GTO airboats in Ocala. They're as impressive as anything I've see, and if factory warranty or service was ever needed Keith at GTO would hook you up right here at home.

Yessir they are, and I've been in their shop ...... they are absolutely beautiful. As fine as any you'll find. I'm sure their cad/cam room is running wide open right now because in addition to their own weapon, they make major components for a couple of other 'big name' manufacturers. Their millwork is perfect. Probably the reason they're sold out.

I'd call Keith in the morning, Tony. If you can make a deal on price he might be able to snag one for you out of a production run somewhere.

Tony you being a ruger man i thought you would be getting a sr-556. That is a good price on the 6920. Almost any of them will do good as long as it is to mil-spec standards. That way all the accesories you buy will work. That have an ar platform for everyone. It all depends on how you want to fix one up. Sometimes it is better to spend a little up front to save money down the road. If you want one with rail fore end , you might look at something else. Because then you have to remove the factory front stock and install the new one. I don't know if they frown on other web sites but check out ar15.com it wll answer all your questions. I had a LMT hand assembled by Wes Grant at mtsn and it ran awesome. But most people just buy one right out of the factory box.

Too bad this crapstorm is happening b/c there is a round that in time will change everything you know about AR 15's. It's called the 6.5 Grendel. Supremely accurate, better downrange performance than a 308, fits in the ar15 platform. Truly awesome round. I am currently building one (using a Core 15 lower, actually HardCore) and am very anxious to see if my bits n pieces get here in a timely manner.

I guess I just assumed you were talking about the stainless m77 models with the wood inserts.
