Congress just stopped the mega ammo buys by DHS because they said it was drying up the civilian market. Their reasons are most likely financial no matter what they say but the big buys are history.

Thanks guys , I want a AR but I want to pay a fair price and be able to buy ammo for it so I can enjoy it. A friend bought a pistol " the Judge" recently , that pistol is awesome and is also on my want list.

Core15 never changed from sensible, may not have the famous name but they are just as good if not better. A lot of ARs are subcontracted out and get that brand name stamped to it and jack the price up.

You should look into the "Shorties" at Shooters Depot in Corpus Christi, TX. It's a bit of a wait do to paperwork, but it's a sweet little gun. They can ship it to a licensed dealer in your area.

Good luck on ammo!

bought 3 555 round bricks from walmart yesterday. 19.99 a brick. seen them at the gun show last week for 100.00 a brick for the same .22 bullets.
gun shows are a scam. people trying to rip-off the stupid.

supply and demand will eventually catch up and bring the prices to a new normal.

Prices aen't coming down, but they are beginning to stabilize. Until the manufacturers catch up they will probably remain close to where they are. Once the dust settles they will begin to fall, but I seriously doubt they will return to the prices we were accustomed to before all this nonsense started. There are deals to be had, if you are patient and do a little research. You aren't going to find .223 for 15 cents per round anymore, but you can find it for significantly less than the 80 to 90 cents that people are selling it for.

Walmart seems to be real spotty. Some stores have some ..... some not. Their prices are great when you take into account there's
no shipping, but you'll just have to make the rounds. No pun intended. :)

I stopped in Walmart the other day in Ocala and ask the girl in the sporting goods department behind the counter when they usually get ammo shipments and she totally lost it and started screaming at me saying " you" f------ing people ask me that one more time iam gonna scream . As I was trying to just walk away a guy looking at some maps said hey lady your already screaming! She stormed off to the back somewhere. He started laughing and looked at me and said crazy bi--tch huh . I guess she was just having a bad day

Mac, my wife is a department manager in a Walmart here in the Tampa Bay area. She's worked with the guy who's the manager
of the sporting goods department in that store for 12 years.
A few weeks back I called over there and told him that the next time he got some bricks of .22 hollow point, just hollar at my wife
and she'll come over to his department and swipe her card for two or three.

Not one round so far. He told me that he normally clocks out at 4pm. Ammo deliveries come in (usually on Thursday) on second shift. He said that when he comes in on Friday mornings the shelves are already bare ..... that he hasn't seen any bricks of .22 ammo for at least a couple months. I believe him.

Yup, that lady was definitely out of line, but if you only knew how Walmart treats their employees?

Steve, serious question: do you have an original thought that isn't a link? Good grief.

To the OT, it is doubtful prices ever come down due to the inevitable inflation around the corner. In time ammo will be a more stable currency than the fiat dollar.

Mr. LN (that's short and lazy for Levy Nole). Mr. Reid does often make posts that are more than just links, and it has also come to the attention of myself and others that Mr. Reid is a level #6 site supporter. I don't see one single star under your Avatar.

As regards your OT comment in your last post? Does that stand for overtime? Out of touch? Often tardy? :dontknow:

We now have .223 ammo more readily available than before and the price has stabilized at about $9.99 per box of 20 rounds. Two months ago it was more than double that price!
