Why OC when you can CC? That's the big question. I would not like the added attention to myself and you loose the element of surprise OC-ing. JMO

I open carry whenever I'm hunting / fishing , in Florida it also states to and from hunting or fishing
Just keep a fishing pole and tackle in the truck and your legal
The officer has to prove you did not intend on going fishing and that's hard to prove

in Ga I used to carry openly and I preferred that as it defused many situation quicker then when you CC (but my backup was CC) in FL have only carried openly on form boat ramp out and back it just not worth dealing with the tin stars with god complex

Rod and tackle not needed, read the law. This topic has been discussed on here before.

North Carolina has an open carry law as long as you have your permit, i hunt up there every year and have never seen anyone nervous or scared around me i carry mine everywhere i go up there, grocery stores, fast food places, everywhere, its no big deal up there, i went into cvs pharmacy one night to get cold meds, and a deputy sherrif was standing beside me at the register and was on my pistol side he never acted funny or concerned.

It's legal just like a woman can go topless in a lot of situations and it's not actually illegal per Florida law however both might get you some unwanted attention. A lot of cops don't know the legality of open carry and even more citizen's don't know it's legal so prepare freak some people out and maybe even have he cops called on you.

i always conceal, in public, hunting, or fishing. even if we could open carry in all the places we can conceal carry, i would still conceal. but to answer your question, very rarely do i open carry while hunting or fishing.

Open carry when fishing. Never know when there could be a gator getting ready to eat your gf and the fish she just caught. Its truly a safety issue

If you do anything legally you will meet police friends. They have a 2 x Bible sized book of laws none of them knows them all nor do we.
Yes i have educated both sheriffs and FWC officers and they have educated me. If you're an ass there sure to return the favor because I would.

I normally open carry when I'm out on the boat, and unless I'm wearing a jacket I find CC somewhat of a PITA.
Never have been bothered or noticed anyone acting concerned.

Always CC. When hunting or fishing usually have more than one to choose from and the second one is usually a lot bigger and more effective :). I am a firm believer in having the right tool for the right job. I don't think open carry in public is a good idea personally, there is no need to show your cards or advertise your weapon. JMO. I know what I have and nobody else needs to. If it concerns them then it worries me why they would care. If everyone CC then crime rate, tax dollars and prison room would all be better off.

Must agree that CC hurts the incarceration INDUSTRY ! That may be why so many high ups want to ban our guns.

In Kentucky you can strap a six gun on your hip and walk right thru town with it.

I've wondered this as well.. I've open carried at the ramp in front of a sheriff and he didn't say anything. I've also had to go inside the gas station once or twice in the early morning on my way to go hunting, without anything said. It's been about a month and a half, and I'm still waiting on my cc permit to get here! Hopefully soon, then I won't have to worry about the fine line of open carrying.

You can in several States, and should be able to anywhere IMO. Texas will soon go OC, and maybe even Florida in the not too
distant future. As I understand it, Georgia is already there.
Concealed carry is nothing but a trap ..... you sign up for the classes giving them every possible bit of information you can
about yourself (that they're asking for) and then your application is entered into an NSA databank somewhere so that:
#1 ... they know that you're a gun owner.
#2 ... they know right where to come to pick up your guns should Marshall Law ever be imposed in your area.

Me? I have no interest in a CC permit, but that's just me.

Yup. Really. I didn't say I was defenseless. I just meant that they'll visit you long before they worry about me. :)

Every time I go hunting.

Doesn't every one hunting carry a gun on there shoulder on there hip. Weather it a long gun or hand gun isn't it open carrying?

Pistols are legal to hunt in FL with during gun season.
