AR-15 build

I have been looking around for another AR-15,,,

Havent bought one in a few years and was astounded by the prices of a complete Flat Top, minus the lower,,,

I will continue to build my own rifle, but I could not believe the prices for complete AR-15,,,

Looks like I will hafta settle in for the long haul and put together another one, piece at a time,,,

Now if I could just find a better price for 1000 rounds of ammo,,,

400 dollars for a 1000 rounds is a bit steep,,,

I bought the PSA daily deal a while back and got a flat top upper that is flawless for $40. Mas defense has great prices on all barrel profiles usually. Sometimes PSA actually has a flat top complete uppers for $300. Joeboboutfitters has had recently, some of those polymer complete lowers for $100 on sale. A complete AR for $400 isn't bad and that's with medium/lower quality parts. My Colt is on its 3rd barrel and I fear a new build is also in my future. I want to try a 300 BLK sbr I think. I've got plenty of brass to cut down.

Hard to beat a new Colt from Walmart but if after a cheap shooter AR Buds Gun Shop.com had Carbon Fiber complete Bushmaster rifles on sale for $550 last week. Most of their guns ship free and you can have them send it to your FFL dealer and avoid sales tax.
They also deal where you can make an offer the web price is NOT firm.

It's an option

Those Colt (#6920) guns were only built and sold to Law Enforcement until last year and now you can slide into Walmart and for $10790.00 score one of the best built AR platforms in the world. They also have the true M4 feed ramps which help them to digest almost any ammo from green tip to blunt nose frangible.

I would like to strip a Walmart colt down to compare parts. Walmart only buys items a discounted price. Buy a rem 870 from Wally World an one from local gun shop. Walmart gun has plastic parts where the one from the gun shop has metal. Walmart aint buying unless they can get for atleast 5% less.

I love my old green label Colt. No doubt about that. Not well versed in the newer ones. The one I am issued is an FNH and I have had it for 7 yrs, been on 4 deployments to 17 countries and shot just fine at the range last year. Can't go wrong with Tier 1 rifle, for the right price. The finish still looks good. Fit is amazing.

What parts did you go with Cowboy? Figured out what sights you are using yet? That close you can't beat an RMR. Low profile so it comes out of the passenger seat quick too, you know, for whatever.

Cowboy

I was up in Americus a while back and @ WALMART they had Bushmaster and Rock Rivers on display for 850.-- these were patrol ready without the gizmos..

Very hard to beat that price
Down here in Eastern Haiti / Northern Cuba they are well over 1200.--

Stay away from them steel casings too...

I have retired my Colt M4 and now carry a Rock River with MagPul accessories and EoTech sight... Hasn't let me down...

Thanks for the info,,, That is strange about the Steel Cases, I was advised to reload the steel cases,,,

As far as the sights, I have several sights in te gun room, I also added a flip sight just in case I need it,,,

At 50 yards, at night, open sights are all I need,,,

The 42 round clip and the bump stock is just cream on the top,,,

Steel cases are NO GOOD for an AR rifle and if by chance they are the poly or lacquer coated you will play hell to clean that crap out once it melts to the chamber. Most solvents cant get it out once it cooks to the sides. Malfunction central!

PS: We never reload steel

We will see,,,

Unforgivin,,, I am still willing to buy some of your loads if you will give me a price,,,

My lower is a DPMS,,, My upper reciever and lower parts and sliding stock is a Palmetto Armory,,, forgot who I ordered the flip sights from,,,

I have a TriCon Red Dot,,, And a Leapould (spelling ? ) 3 x 9 scope,,, I really like my Red Dot,,,

Otter,,, I have looked in several of the Wal-Marts around in driving distance, no ARs,,,

With Wally World and the AR's every store is different and often times county to county can vary selections. The one by me had the highest sale of AR15's at one point last year. It was unreal you walk in and it was AR15, AR10, the special Sig sniper system, Remington 700 sniper with the threaded barrels you never knew what was next. Then you go 7 miles up the road to the closest other Walmart and not a single gun in the store.

Local regulations and store management the key. Talk to the sporting goods manager and the store GM put a little personal connection into it you will see them respond if they are not liberal anti-gunners. Not to take the buck away from the small local shops but here where I am the shops were buying up the Walmart guns and ammo then putting them on their shelf and on internet gun auctions. That's why they needed to limit sales quantity. FYI they often pull the AR's from display after the GM or Sporting managers go home and lock up in a safe so hit the stores mid day.

I tried to find AR-15 from Wal-Mart online, no luck,,,

They said they sell from the stores only,,,

No Walmarts here in driving distance has any,,,

I was very disappointed that the Little Brown Truck did not come to my house today, I wanted to finish my build,,, Now I have to wait until next weekend,,,

My friend is having a Hog shooting next weekend, (they are planting Peanuts next week) and there will be Hogs galore,,, I sure wanted to be there for that,,,

Ya'll have a safe and happy Easter Sunday,,,

If ya were closer I would loan you mine with a night scope! Bought a box of the new Hog Hammer bullets really would like to see how they perform. We have had real good luck over the years taking animals with plain old 55 grain Remington hollow points FYI.
